Fuel level measurement

Which zuke motor and gauges do you have? SMG4 gauge?
You are reading the fuel tank level on the zuke digital gauge? But don't have fuel burn?

The engine is 140 DF140B. The gauges are analog. Don't know how I could determine burn rate. Wish I could!

Thanks, everyone, for weighing in! I dipped the tank this morning and it seems to be at least half full, perhaps more, so the gauge is fairly accurate at this level. I'm going to run it down to 1/4 and measure again.

Thanks everyone for your comments! I dipped the tank a while back while the gauge was showing 1/2 tank. The fuel was 8" deep in the tank. After about 3.3 hours of running at various speeds, the gauge was showing a bit more than 1/4 tank. I dipped the tank again and it showed 6". I know all of this is primitive and analog, but it's real data, anyway. I decided not to replace the KUS unit because it seems to be working OK. If anyone knows the dimensions and shape of the 82 gallon tank in a 1994 Adventure 20, that would be welcome information.

Knowing the dimensions of that tank isn't going to help make the gauges readings more accurate due to the fact that the tanks is rarely sitting level and even if it sat level with no-one on the boat, the reading will change when you climb aboard, add load or even walk aft. All of those actions will cause the level under the sender to change. The sender may not be linear and the sender bottom and sits above the tank floor by about 1 inch for metal tank and 2 inches for poly. If you want to get into the math, measure the full depth of the tank as well as its width and length, Calculate the volume in cubic inches. One gallon of gasoline takes up 231 cubic inches of volume.
