Has anyone put a green stick on a Grady that would be willing to share how they mounted the stick to the boat? I am debating putting one on my 265 express. Thanks for your help.

I don't have a green stick, but until I put the boat in the water, I get brown twigs and leaves all the time. Apparently they have their own "mounting system" as they are sometimes a real bugger to remove.

A single center rigger is a popular configuration in some parts. It allows you to get 1 squid rig back and up... Used to be popular on cape cod

Just curious where you are fishing that you feel you need a green stick? Seems to me that it might be a little much for a boat that size, especially when you consider the need for the electric motor/reel. I agree that a center rigger might be an option for you. I mounted a 15 footer on my hardtop and can run one high and one lower down the center.

yep, a lot more fun reeling them in on a TLD2 than winching them in on a bandit with 400# mono.

Tend to agree, usually on much larger seagoing boats. Not that it can't be on a GW.... Would be a head turner for sure.

Thanks for all the posts,

My plan was not to use an electric reel set up but just have the mainline on an international and then have 3-5 rods attached to the mainline that would break away and you could fight on a much smaller reel.

I know there is a 27-30ft freedom in my area that has a green stick on the boat. I was just wondering on the base mount as my plan is to make the base removable.

Just be careful with the hardtop. Not the strongest design (balsa cored). Grady doesn't even recommend a raft up there . You'll have to reinforce it if mounted up there.

My version, its all custom that I put together. It tows a specially rigged 80w with 4 droppers and a mini bird at the end. The tip sits 34ft from the water line and uses a tagline with release clip similar to an outrigger. I dont attempt to stack fish like a commercial setup instead I'm happy to get a single bite and have it release.

Also, I don't leave it up but instead I can put it up when I get offshore, it would be way to much stress to run with it up.

A pic of the mount close up would be nice to see.

BTW, looks like you've got the biggest stick in the harbor... Couldn't resist.

Thanks for posting the pictures. Greatly appreciate you sharing your design.

I will try to take one tonight for you. Meanwhile I found this now. This is with my standard center rigger in place, it uses a tractor pin on hold it in the aluminum holder. I have no problem riding through rough seas with the standard center rigger up there, but I am not risking it with that big stick.boat [1600x1200].jpg

That's a heavy duty set up.... Probably no issues with that.
