New Member - Real World MPG 33 Express Questions

Is this a mistake or do your engines burn 30.4 (2x15.2) Liter per hour @ 4200 rpm?
That is very hard to believe as it's about about half of what every other outboard of same HP burns.

Below numbers of my 306 Canyon, the 330 Express should use more fuel and have less nMpG

RPM
Twin 2011 F300 @ 4300 rpm = 55.3L/hour per engine or 110.6 L/h @ 25.7 knots =0.88 nMpG
Twin 2025 BF350 @ 4100 RPM = 46.4 l/h per engine or 92.8L/h @ 29.7 knots 1.12 nmpg

30 Knots

Twin 2011 F300 @ 4700 rpm = 71.25 L/hour per engine or 142.5 L/h =0.79 nMpG
Twin 2025 BF350 @ 4100 RPM = 46.4 l/h per engine or 92.8L/h @ 29.7 knots 1.12 nmpg

Chris
It’s Gallons per hour

I think the …L shows like that because the boxes set up on the Simrad screen cut off the GA part of GAL

Just got back from a canyon run this weekend, here are some real-world numbers.

Total trip 288 nautical miles, burned 286 gals.

When converting the NM to Miles, I get 331 miles and dividing that by 286 gives me 1.15 miles per gallon.

Here is how running broke out.
Out - ran at 4500 rpm at 24.5knots for 100+ NM
Trolling - total of 13 hours trolling at about 1600 - 1700RPM
Overnight - 6 hours running single engine at a time.
Return - ran at 4300rpm running 24.5knots for 100 + NM

I'm happy with the new motors and props which I detailed earlier in the thread.

We were heavily laden, 4 guys, a dozen offshore combos, 300lbs ice, full fuel, water, two coolers full of drink and food, plus other misc gear.

(we caught a couple yellowfin, and went 1/3 on Marlin as well)

That sounds like an awesome trip, and very similar to how I would be loaded for the same trip. Very encouraging. 1NMPG is completely acceptable to me for a trip like that.

I was running a little heavier when I took these photos yesterday but numbers are similar to the others that I posted: (twin merc V-10 350’s on a 2017 330 express)View attachment 39764View attachment 39765
Thanks for the update. These numbers are great. Ideally, I would like to find a boat with 425s on it, but my budget likely won't allow it. If I end up with an F350 boat, the V10s will be top of the list for a repower.

The 425/450 are going to be about 1 mpg depending on how heavy, my 2017 with 450 goes from .9 full load to 1.2 as it empties out. They are 900 lbs a piece

Got a ride on a friend's 33 with 425s and it seemed to do right around 1.05 NMPG - definitely feels like the best power package.

Hey folks! New member here - joined because I am very seriously considering moving into a 2015-2017 era 330 Express. Currently going on my 15th season with my Regulator 26FS w/Suzuki 250APs on it (repowered in 2016). I'm in the marine business, so I understand the real world cost of things, and that's actually what has me shopping Grady's. I was dead set on buying a used 35 Henriques Express, but after doing some soul searching and realizing my wife isn't going to spend a week away at a time with me, and that my friends all have kids now, week-long trips to Nantucket are DOA for the foreseeable future. The other side of that coin is maintaining a set of diesels - we are a diesel shop, and I understand the costs, and frankly, the juice isn't worth the squeeze with the reality of my working/fishing schedule.

Anyways - I want to get some real world honest feedback on true milage of the 330 Express, both with F300s and F350s (If I repower down the road it will be Suzuki). After 14 seasons with my Regulator, I know that it gets 1.65NMPG @ 30KTS like clockwork - no matter what. That is the 15yr average, and it's never dipped below 1.57 even when rough, through thousands and thousands of miles.

I live just north of Boston, and the majority of my fishing is North Shore & Stellwagen, down to the Cape and Chatham - sometimes out East 60ish miles depending on the BFT bite. I do tend to take 1 trip per year to ACK which is exactly 100mi out and around the Cape (I hate the canal so I go that way). Ideally, I would like to be able to target the bite down off Block, the Windmills, and would like to throw a canyon trip or two a year in there. I can refuel before heading south, so I won't need to run 180mi each way for Canyon runs - typical run will be 90mi each way. Crew is 2 guys, and I don't load the boat down with 50 rods and 1000lbs of ice - I enjoy releasing fish, and only keeping what we will actually eat - so super heavy runs are non-existent. The heaviest we will be is full fuel, water, and diesel (gen), and probably 250lbs of ice.

For those who fish "like I do" - what kind of real world nautical MPG are you seeing? If I can get 1:1 - I will be happy. It seems many guys are reporting better and worse numbers depending on props. I understand I won't be cruising 30kts anymore without burning a metric ton of fuel - but if we could get 26kts at 1:1 - I could live with that. Even if it dips to .9 on the way out, and 1.2 on the way back, that averages out for me.

Anyways - cheers! I look forward to contributing more as things progress. I am likely going to wait until Spring to pull the trigger on anything (as this season is half over for us), but you never know.

I've a 2017 330 twin Yam350F's.
Fuel consumption fully laden is very close to the chart provided. When going out 150plus miles I keep it under 2500; usually 9- 12 knots trolling speed and mileage is great. Open them up past 4000 the guage drops as fast as my F3504xFord. I'm out often so. Pacific Ca. distance isn't an issue. Fuel and taxes are.....Every 3rd fillup or so I add RingFree to keep up performance.

The longest trip I really intend to do is ~120mi each way - and then trolling 3-6kts. Don't have a ton of time these days, so it would be 1 night overnights in the Canyon, so probably 1/2 tank of diesel on the genset. I tend to leave both of my outboards running when making trips like that - but having the generator, I may drift the night chunk. Looks like plenty of fuel to make that run, and even enough to move to a different canyon if need be.
