For the life of me I cannot locate the occupancy placard on this boat. Where is it generally placed?

If I cannot locate it, where can I get a replacement, Grady?

Thanks

Oh.. lol.. I was breaking my back trying to locate one because the TPWD person said I had to lol

Okay....going over the USCG checklist.

Registration documentation - Seems sorta silly...I mean, I get it.. you have the numbers and registration sticker on the outside of the boat.... you keep the registration paperwork in the glovebox.. how many forms of registration they want? sheesh...I mean.. if the thing is current... the sticker will show it... just silly imo..keeping paperwork on a dang floating car...lol.. but, I do not see a lot of boats with boat names and hailing ports on the hull. Sure, I am adding mine on the stern.. but, there was not one there before.. and I hail out of Cedar Creek, TX.. lol.. that is not a port...

I did not know having a boat name and/or hailing port on the hull was required.. I just happened to get one. Do they really check that, because I guarantee.. most boats do not have that...

Yes... bored today so... heh

"Required" and "recommended" are often two different things. I'm not aware of any boat being required to have a name. I "think" the only way it's required is if you document the boat... but then you wouldn't also be registering it.

Just going through the entire checklist, seeing what all I need / want to replace. We have flares etc.. but I like the idea of each life vest having a whistle and a light... albeit.. the kids get those whistles.. I may have to use one of them for bait......the whistles that is... *wink*...lol

whistles are low $ and maintenance items. skip the lights on the vests in my opinion.
put a couple of lights in your ditch bag.

Yea, the lights per vest just seemed a bit overkill. Only got two heh

The things I think are important:
Good/recent VHF and antenna. This is your first line of defense and you'll use it around harbors or hailing others. Don't forget the MMI number.
First Aid kit. You will use it more than you think. Especially if fishing with newbees or kids.
Hook and gaff
Safety line. They sell them in nylon bags and you can clip to your new hard top support. If you need to toss someone a line fast.
Ditch bag.
- You don't have to do this all at once, but start to build yours. They sell the bags or you can use your own.
- EPIRB with gps. They have come down in price so there really is no reason not to have one.
- If you don't think an EPIRB is in the cards, investigate a PLB. Cheaper alternative.
- Weems and Plath battery powered marine flare and real ones. If you can swing it the shot gun shell kit.
- A couple tubs of stay afloat. A set of wooden plugs.
- A couple of small SS knives.
- Some water and lifesaver candy.

I am an admiralty lawyer and the name and home port is not required. It’s just typically done. Coast Guard appreciates it. Here in RI comic ports like “Milky Way “ are common.

Land locked ports are therefore fine and also common.
