End of 2019 season noticed when turned key there would be a delayed response to engine starting , and sometimes would turn the key more than once to get the engine to start. During spring tune up 2020 I found the + battery terminal to the starter was very loose and assumed that was the problem. Used the boat 5-6 times this season and no problems until today. Now i have to turn the key multiple times 4-5 to get engine to start. I feel like its an electrical problem either in the ignition/key switch or possibly the neutral switch in the control box .Any suggestions on where to start or should i be looking at the engine instead. suggestions on how to diagnose PLEASE
just to be clear , sometimes I turn the key and it starts right up....only having this issue with the port side engine .... boat has twin 2004 Yamaha 225 4 strokes with 1200 hours on them

Next time, turn the key to crank position. If it doesn't crank, hold the switch on and wiggle the shift lever a little back and forth. If the neutral switch is out of adjustment, there will be some spot where it makes contact.
Keep in mind that the motor may start in gear so be careful.
Also confirm that when you turn on the key to the first position (ignition, but not crank) the gauges power up. That's just to make sure the engine is getting power in general. If you set up normally beeps when you turn on the key and it does, your motor has power and the gauges would be working

Thanks for the starting point ... gonna try that first today.
