Hi - I am looking at two used but nice Yamaha stainless steel props for sale. They are 14 1/4" and a 19 Pitch.

I'm looking for a recommendation on the best all around performance prop for this setup. I'd greatly appreciate any help or in site into this.

Re: Props for 200hp HPDI's

The engines came with Quicksilver 48-13703A41 21P and 48-13702A41 21P

I'd be willing to part with these and get a couple of the Yamaha props.

21 pitch props! I'd go with 19p or 17p. You should be able to swing 14 x 19's, The Merc 15 1/4's would give more bite in the rougher stuff but you may not be able to swing them in 19 pitch.

I am using 14.5 X 19 on my Yahama 200 hp HPDI counter rotating motors on my Sail fish 272. At WOT I am getting 5200 rpm. The specs for this motor call for 4500 to 5500 rpm.

Marty,

I found a pair of mint Yamaha 14.5 x 18 props (considering buying them), slightly less pitch but should get me a few more RPM's. Why did you choose the 14.5 x 19?

Abielike. With a 28 foot Grady fishing boat I really don't give a hoot about "hole shot", I really care about being able to put the engins in a good cruising speed of 3400 rpm to 4000 rpms and get better miles per gallon of fuel. At 3600 rpms I am getting 1.7 to 1.8 miles per gallon burn rate and I still get a WOT of just over 5200 rpms (well within the Yahama factory spects). With the cruising speed of 25 mph in open water at the 3600+ rpm I can cruise a good distance (205 gallon fuel tank capacity) or get to the canyon -70 miles- fish all day and night and still get back with a 1/3rd full gas tank. I tried several other props and this combo seemed to work the best for my boating style. Your boat is slightly lighter and slightly shorter, with that being said, the 18 pitch is probably good for boat, as long as your not trying to drag race anyone. Marty
