I have 1999 Seafarer 228 that has a Gill bracket on in. Over the years, the ring that the inspection plate screws into has stripped out. I had a local guy 3D print a couple for me, and they are perfect. The final ring, has M4 inserts so the chances of it stripping out are slim. His name is Ty Townley and his number is 541-716-3032 if you are interested in getting one.
Cheers,
Brad

Why the gap in it? Can it be full circle?

Won't make a difference either way - it's the nuts that hold things tight, not the circle. Besides, I'd imagine it's much easier to insert it the way it is since the circle would end up being larger than the hole. Kinda hard to a big circle through a smaller hole, you know?

Ok so it goes underneath to be screwed into? Do you have any pics of it installed? How did you hold it up underneath to line the screws up? I know all of this sounds dumb but I'm just trying to picture this in my pea brain.

It's an "inspection plate" that is being used - not a "pie plate". See the original post... "the ring that the inspection plate screws into ". There's a ring and then there's the removable piece.

It does go underneath, and I used life caulk to adhere it to the inside of the bracket. I do not have any pictures at the moment, but will see if I can get a few.
