Taxachusetts strikes again!!!

We had the same thing happen this year in NY.......started Oct 1st.

But now I heard rumors they may not require it next year.......I hope!

A saltwater fishing license is a way of life in Florida; but we don't have an income tax.

You can blame the Feds for this intrusion into your pocket. Make no mistake, I am not defending Massachusetts’s insatiable appetite for our wealth, but this one comes at the hands of the Feds. The deal as I understand it is that the Feds passed legislation ether requiring a salt water license or some back door BS verbiage that results in the requirement. On top of it the Feds have told the states that they have the choice to enact there own licience and keep the money or if the state elects not to impose a license the Fed will and it will keep the money.

It's kind of like two heroin addicts on welfare debating who is going to shoot up a newly found supply that they just stole.

Get use to it, there is more to come with this administration. Costa Rica is looking better and better by the day.

Be thankful you don't have the tax system of the Socialist Utopia known as Canada. Here we have salt water licenses, freshwater licenses and tidal water licenses (yes 3). This on top of the highest tax rates in the civilized world. Now of course we have socialized medicine which is great unless you are sick and need it. Then it tends to be a little bit of a disappointment.

From what I have read I believe we are heading towards a mandatory catch reporting system for recreational fisherman. This is one step in the governments process to get there.

We got it here in Delaware last year; $60 for a sticker for each boat. What a ripoff.

"Taxachusettes"

That's funny.

But it is no laughing matter I know.
Right after NY's saltwater license and jacking up DMV fees, only weeks later they decided they wanted yet another 29 million dollars and wanted to mandate we all buy all new auto license plates in April for every single car.

It is out of control everywhere.
They are not even making excuses anymore and just reach right in and take the cash out of our wallets directly.

My 76-year-old father has never been fishing a day in his life. When he saw that I had a fishing license arrive in the mail after moving back to North Carolina last May he started asking questions. He didn't believe me that a license was required to walk to the end of their street and fish in the ocean.

He started to become agitated and rather angry. I showed him the Wildlife Resources website. I laughed and said "Isn't that ridiculous?" He said, "It's worse than that! It's fascist tyranny!" And he meant it. And he's right!

I guess I'll need to get the complete low-down on the regs cause I have some questions.

1. Are kids exempt?
2. What if I'm outside the 3 mile zone? A jurisdiction question.
3. It seems to be a personal license, not a boat license like my tuna permit. Am I held responsible to ensure everyone on my boat is duly licensed?

I now or will have a lobster permit, a tuna permit, a 2 fishing licenses, boat registration and insurance card, 2 boating safety certificates (which is not yet required in MA but is required when I venture into NH waters) all stuffed into a Zip Lock baggie. All ready for the Secret Police when I'm trying to cross the checkpoint -

Papers! Show me your PAPERS!

  :( :( :? :?

i was told mass is on the verge of making you have a safety course also ,so with 20%unemployment lets taxem more thanks devil

Welcome to our world . Here in Charleston S.C. we have had a saltwater fishing license for at least the past 10yrs. $10.00 , however it was to fish from a vessels only. Now you must purchase the same to fish from a dock ( your own ) included , the river bank etc. Boats are taxed every year my 1988 sailfish 252 ( $260.00 ) , outboards are taxed ( 10%) of value each , then theres the registration fees ( $35 ) , HMS permit ($20 ). South carolina also enjoys the rite of taking your boat for none tax payment and selling it on the court house steps for the tax amount, even if you haven't used it in several years and it' s sitting in your yard on a trailer. Our county auditor also has a person that rides around in a boat looking for boats that have been in county waters for more than 120 days, one lawyer just got billed $ 387,000 dollars

In the people’s republic of Massachusetts we have the following;

6.25% sales tax at purchase. +/- $6,500
Excise tax every year. +/- $1,000 in year one
Harbor usage fee every year @ $6/ft. $160
Massachusetts registration every other year. +/- $60
Trailer registration +/- $45
HMS Permit +/- $30
Salt water license. $ ??
Gas tax per tank $80
In short in year one of ownership you have the privilege of paying the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts +/- $8,300 for a 100K boat and +/-$1,800 thereafter.
On top of all of this, the joke of rebating your road tax on gas that you buy at the dock. If you apply for the rebate it results in having to pay sales tax on the gas. The last time I calculate this out, by applying for the rebate on the road tax for 150 gallons of gas I would have had to pay $7.00 additional to the state and this was before the 25% increase in sale tax last year.

But remember comrades this is all for the greater good, to support those who are less fortunate, are here illegally, are too lazy to work or are scamming the system. When is enough enough??????
Their taste for our wealth is insatiable.

For the record, I am not in favor of this tax.....
The license is $10 per person over the age of 16, and there will be 2 free days where folks can fish. If the state failed to act by the end of the year, the federal program would have kicked in and the fee would be higher. All funds with the state program stay in the state, if the fed program was cut in, it would all go to Obama.

This is a scam, but we continue to elect the Progressive stiffs that cloak themselves in the democratic party. When the people wake the fu** up and start voting conservative maybe things will change. Until then, more government for all...

My suggestion for all MA voters is to vote for Scott Brown for uncle Ted's seat and shock the world....

But we pay it in other ways; home insurance, auto insurance, sales tax, property tax.........
