Hey all,

I’ve got a 1994 Adventure 208 that was repowered by the prior owner with a 2010 Yamaha 150. I’m assuming during this time the trim cap in question was replaced. I’m trying to replace the trim as it’s starting to corrode, but I’m having a very difficult time figuring out what it is, and where to find it. Ideally I’d like to move towards a non metallic material so I don’t have this issue in the future.

I’ve gotten quotes on fiberglassing it and for now that’s going to have to wait until the time comes to redo the whole transom.

Thanks in advance!

It's generally referred to as a "bang cap".

Grady makes a replacement (has been for a while) in vinyl. But you could also buy fiberglass L-channel stock pretty readily/easily.

Thank you for the info! Just saw this, I also reached out to my local GW dealer and they said this is the part for it. Just posting here incase anyone else stumbles upon this thread.

10-0511 PLATE VINYL BANG 1 1/4" X 1 1/2" X 12' @ $2.98ft

I hate that phrase...

A marketing ploy...

It implies that it provides a protective purpose..that the motor might rest on it, which it will never do...

Its a crappy piece of trim to hide a seam in the transom... a transom cap....

it's always in the way of mounting the motor flush to the transom. It always gets squeezed and distorted.

I always wondered about the terminology, too. Odd name, yes - unfortunately it's the "right" one to use when googling (or at least the one that returns more results).

That transom cap is pretty good shape from other that have been posted here. Considering the potential expense that could be incurred from a wet transom , it is is better to be safe than sorry!
