I will be doing a repower this Summer on my 2006 330 Express.

Wondering if anyone has some real world experience on their propeller selection on a 330 with twin Yamaha 300's.

I'm thinking Yamaha's Salt Water Series in a 17 pitch, 3 blade, is a good place to start.
Curious what others think in this exact set-up: a 330 with F300's (i.e. not Suzuki's, not a Marlin, etc.).

Thank you...

I just re-powered my 2007 330 with F300s. I initially used the same props that I had on my F250s, 17 pitch. Of course the F250 has a different gear ratio than the F300. 2:1 vs 1.75:1 At any given RPM the F300 turns the prop faster. With a heavy load I could only get 5400 RPM at WOT with the 17 inch props. I looked for a set of 16 inch pitch to get my top end a little higher, but could not find a pair. I opted for the prop that Grady-White puts on the boat at the factory which is a SSII SDS 15 3/4 diameter by 15 inch pitch and my top end RPM is now 5800 with a medium load. I may have lost a little bit of efficiency, but it feels more comfortable. When I first tested the 17 inch props that came off my F250s, I was told by a technician who worked at the factory for Yamaha doing prop selection testing that I needed to get a little higher wide-open throttle to be kinder to my engine. I have kept both sets of props and am currently running the SSII SDS 15 pitch. As I get more experience, I may put the 17s back on and try to do exact comparisons if I can get the conditions. Haven't been out in heavier seas, but GW has done testing and made their choice which I am sure is a compromise. It does seem I may have lost a slight amount of nautical miles per gallon by switching to the lower pitch. Hope that helps!

Thank you very much.

I wonder if a set of 4 blades in 16 pitch would be best.

but I prefer not to guess…

can't help directly. but 4 blades on my '09 330 with f350's was night and day. improvement all around except for top speed (which i don't do anyway). good luck, ron

I've been wanting to try the 15 inch Powertech OFS4 on my 4.2L F250's (detuned F300) to see if they improve cruise economy (I also don't give a hoot about top speed). Right now I have 15 inch Mercury Mirage props on my 330 and I get 1.1 mpg (statute) at 4300 RPM and 29mph as best cruise. Top speed is about 39 at 5400 RPM.

Reading the above, I think I might try the props I currently run on my 3.3L F250’s. They are PowerTech Offshore 4 blade props that are 15.25” diameter in 16 pitch.

These props work well on my F250’s. I think they will work well on the F300’s. ?
