    New Seafarer 228 in SoCal

Greetings- Im the proud owner of a new-to-me 2021 Seafarer, purchased from a gentleman in NJ who kept her in pristine condition. Had a blast on our maiden voyage out to Catalina Island yesterday. Boat handles chop very well for its size when properly trimmed. 2-3 ft short head sea motor...

    GT56UHD transducer pitch?

Thanks fellas. I ended up setting it with an ever so slight rear downward angle as well. Found it super easy to adjust in the water with a Phillips and wrench…no sunken tools yet…lol

Need some advice about malfunctioning GT56UHD transducer

Thanks everyone for your input here. I ended up downloading the newest version of the Garman software. I then went into sonar and figured out it is the GT 56 UHD that’s reading incorrectly. My airmar through hole, 1875HW is reading perfectly. Now I have to get in the water and experiment with...

    GT56UHD transducer pitch?

Hi Gan… I believe my transducer pitch may be off as it’s reading 85 feet in a 13 foot slip. For those of you who are currently running this transducer, do you have it oriented dead flat with the bottom of the boat, or with some pitch to it? If the latter, approximately how many degrees do you...

Need some advice about malfunctioning GT56UHD transducer

Thanks Seasick. The transducer angle is parallel with the water, and is clear of marine growth….I’ll head down to the boat in a bit to check things out. TY!

Need some advice about malfunctioning GT56UHD transducer

Hi Gang- while idling out of the Marina, my Garmin MFD sounded an alarm about not being able to read depth with my GT56 transom mounted transducer, which is currently my default… in contrast the thru hull Airmar HW175 produced the crisp images. I ran the boat for about an hour with no GT56...

Suggestions for removing new-ish ablative bottom paint?

I love that last comment! I am a big believer in hiring professionals to do good work. I might end up doing that after all. My plan is to start with anti-fouling stripper in a small area to see just how tough this is to get off and take it from there. I just know few people if any, would put as...

Suggestions for removing new-ish ablative bottom paint?

I am located in Southern California. So plan to run it 365. She’ll be slipped rest of summer for sure. Thanks all for the tips! I’ll try to remove the ablative stuff myself then take it someplace for epoxy barrier coat + fresh ablative paint

Suggestions for removing new-ish ablative bottom paint?

I really don’t, but worry about water intrusion when the boat is slipped…based on the images, you think I can safely run it? How long would you expect she can sit wet without risk?

Suggestions for removing new-ish ablative bottom paint?

Greetings folks. I just purchased a two year-old Grady white with Pettit HRT ablative bottom paint. The boat does not have an epoxy barrier coats, which I would like to apply in order to provide maximum protection. I have considered media blasting, but worried that that might be too aggressive...
