Dodge ecodiesel for towing (and stopping) a 228?

Lucky, My first post in a while, I towed my 228 with an EcoDiesel. Loved the torque it gave my verses my previous 8 cyl. GMC Sierra 1500. If you can get the 3.92 transmission ratio instead of the more common 3.55, its also very helpful for towing.

Replacing thru hulls, removing bottom paint, temporary fixing a wet transom..... making progress.......

A labor of love. Good on you now you have bigger biceps and pecs. I paid someone to remove mine, maybe no use to you now but at the end he used this to make sure he removed all down to the gelcoat. Best, Lee

1987 228 Seafarer Aluminum tank and Fuel lines replacement

Cfarer, I don’t remember exactly how long the lines were. If I had to guess I think I purchased 8’ of each from West Marine for the vent and fill, and 12’ for the fuel line. When you get your hoses out, you can just measure. I did use a hole saw attachment on my drill to cut into the coffin...

    Deal gone south

Just sold my boat on Boat Trader 2 months back and I would not want cash. How do you know it’s not counterfeit? I do travel with 10+K USD of cash overseas, but I get it from a major bank. And fill out a special form declaring I have the cash on me in case US Customs asks at the departure gate...

    WTB Seafarer 228, 2000-20016

Hey Kent, Just sold mine last month on Boat Trader. The last one listed that has a hardtop has an old motor. The first one you listed has 750 hours on the 2011 engine, and listed as a family fun boat. IMHO that’s a lot of hours on a described family fun lol. There are a lot of nuances in these...

    Seafarer Wood Bulkhead Replacement

It was exactly 3/4" on my 87 hull. Doubt very much that Grady would have changed that.

    First Seafarer Question

This question comes up fairly frequently. I owned a pre SeaV2 hull, and have also been on the newer hull as well. Sounds like for your kind of fishing it will be fine, and in certain conditions even better for trolling and drifting. Where the SeaV2 hull really shines is getting you from point A...

    Pyramid Lake

Went fishing yesterday with my new boat owners Charlie and Sylvia. They made the trek down to Reno from the Washington coast to pick up my Grady 228G. I hope they post pics of Salmon and Sturgeon they plan on catching with their new hull! Will miss catching these beautiful Cutthroat Trout on...

What are your Top 3 favorite boat mods or additions you've made?

Great thread! 1-Install washdown and live well. Because we gotta have fresh baits :p. 2-Paint teak trim to clean white modern look . 3-Clean up the dash area with new GPS/Fishfinder, VHF, and New Marine Wire switch panel o_O.

1987 228 Seafarer Aluminum tank and Fuel lines replacement

Travis, Seems Grady placed the main tank in the forward coffin some years, and like yours in the aft by the transom. I think yours probably is factory, buy only one way to find out, pull off the deck plate. The tank removal process remains the same regardless of location. Good luck~
