Throttling up to Turn in Place

Absolutely correct. Start turning the wheel and it goes bad quickly.

Throttling up to Turn in Place

Ekea: As Glacierbaze mentioned, the engine in forward will always have more thrust than the one in reverse. The following has worked for me in tight situations, with both my 232 Gulfstream and my 300 Marlin. As grady23 says, trim your engines up some so the prop wash points at more of a...

Newbie Purchasing a new Gulfstream 232

Both Mustang and SeanC have given good advice here. I owned a 232 Gulfstream for 10 years and trailered it everywhere. Pros/Con's below: Pros: They are a roomy, safe platform with a "widebody" beam-to-length ratio. They are stable and really safe, given reasonable sea conditions and an...

Sailfish vs marlin vs older sportfish?

Hi Jbrinch; Other than just knowing about them, I'm not familiar with the Sailfish Line. The Marlin, however, I can give you input on. You've already spent time aboard one so, you know it's seakeeping abilities and the ride. I overnighted in mine for 4 years. The mid berth sleeps two...

    Trailer opinions please...

Hey Fish: You are indeed the owner of a trailer that does not have enough capacity for your Seafarer. I would recommend a minimum of 7K Capacity. Your Seafarer loaded up will be ballparking around 5800-6000 lbs. A 6K cap trailer will barely be enough and maybe NOT enough if you really load the...

    218 Adventure vs. 232 Gulfstream

Fishermanabb said it best. If you're willing to deal with the downsides of towing, permit requirements (it's over 8' 6") the 232 is hands-down your best choice. You couldn't give me a joystick equipped boat. Revved up engines creating washing machine suds and conditions astern in harbors, lower...

    joy stick feature

I don't fish, so I don't know about that aspect. I have seen firsthand that the joystick option on twin Verado's do NOT bring a boat sideways to a dock when the opposing wind is blowing the vessel off. Ultimately, lines were thrown and the dock hands pulled the boat in hand over hand. I have...

    265 Capsized of Jersey Coast

    It's Trump's Fault! Isn't everything?

    265 Capsized of Jersey Coast

I'll take the Baton now and run: Let's say Mustang is right and it was a trailered boat and the Captain forgot the plug. He would've had to launch on a river or SOMEWHERE where he had to idle for a period to get to open water to plane off. Plus, and this is what I would consider "accurate...

    gulfstream length on trailer?

32 to 33 feet from the hitch ball to the props. The 1 ft variance I typed depends on where you have the engines tilted to. As others have said, the exact length depends on the forward section of the trailer. I'll wager when you measure your trailer, you'll come within a foot or so of 32' or 33'.

GW stern ladder weight rating? 2021, 235 Freedom

I'm curious about applications here. If a swim ladder is rated at 400 lbs, and it's obvious function is to provide a means of entry into the boat, is the expected scenario in the water or with the boat on a trailer or stanchions in a Yard? When a person climbs into a boat while it's in the...

Water level - scuppers - new engine

I have the F200's on my son's (my old) 232 Gulfstream. The extra weight of the 200's submerged approx 1/2 my scuppers. I owned that boat for 10 years and it didn't matter. With passengers in the stern the water would barely come into the cockpit until they moved forward. I would hose out the...

    NJ fishing reports

Were those open water shots? There's little groundswell and not a 3 footer in sight. Nice conditions! This is the first shot of your dock that I've seen without a tide roaring thru there. Hope you have a fun season!

2005 Islander with new df200 ap's and magical props

Correct. In saltwater, the residual foam the wakes leaves stays around longer, whereas the freshwater foam will dissipate much more quickly. You can tell the same thing by viewing breaking waves on a beach. You can always tell the Great Lakes beaches by: A.) How close the waves are together. B.)...

2005 Islander with new df200 ap's and magical props

Family: I recall dimly Skunk mentioned his MPG's went up after the Zukes broke in, but I don't remember him mentioning an increase in speed. Hopefully, he'll see this and verify. Glad your stoked about your powerplants. I can tell you're in freshwater by the wake.
