1988 228G back in the game.

After much debate and him hawing I have opted to keep my 228g. I did a refurb on her in 2006 including new wiring, pumps, electronics, switches, power(250 etec) and many other things. I'm a project guy so with the choice to keep her I have a few new ones in mind. The most pressing being a new...

    228 FF transducer options?

I run an M-260 with my Furuno 582L and am quite happy with it. It's mounted in the rear fuel tank hatch as far back as I could go. It reads well at speed also. Here are a coulple of pics: This shows them completed. The M260 and the garmin backup Glassing in the reservoirs:

    Optima Batteries Anyone?

I installed a third battery in the center cabin floor storage on my 228. It run all the electronics. I used an optima because of the beating it takes up there. I have been happy with the performance but it doesn't have a big load. I still use AGM's for starting and pumps.

Worst luck ever? Boat nearly sunk

What I did on my 228G was 5200 a rule float switch right to the top of my pump. I got an outboard beeper for free from my outboard mechanic. If the water gets over the pump an alarm will let me know the pump isnt keeping up WAY before it's an emergency.

Shallow water grouper 12/8 on my 228. Carrabelle fl.

Written by a friend on board: After whining a lot after the reports from last weekend, I managed to invite myself on a trip scheduled for today! ;) I changed my mind Wednesday and decided since the forecast was iffy, I'd stay home. Mullet posted about tying leaders, and I got FIRED UP...

    St. Marks 9/1

We met up with FF and crew at Casa de Mullet for a scallop excursion. We slept in and ended up on the water around 10 am. The plan was to avoid the boat ramp follies by putting in at Port Panacea and motoring over to the east flats. A nice boar ride and we were on the flat searching for ol' blue...

    carrabelle 9/2

After scalloping with Matt Saturday, the plan was to fish with Billy junior on Sunday. Matt tends to get seasick so he slept in, Billy has had numerous ear problems and wasn't keen on the scalloping. Hence the reason for two trips. The plan was to meet up with FF and crew at C-quarters at 7:30...

    Carrabelle 8/11

Left C-quarters at 6:30 and robbed a few bait traps(thanks Harris). The plan was to 2 boat with Newells crew in an area we had fished last weekend. They were a little later than us getting on the water so we headed on to the area. WE never saw them all day. Later Harris told me they stopped...

    Carrabelle 8/4

A spur of the moment trip turned out quite well. I had planned earlier in the week to fish saturday. As it got closer to the weekend, with a iffy forcast, my crew opted to wait for a better weekend. On the way I called MHNewell to see if there would be a spot on the renegade. He has planned on...

    Carrabele, fla. 7/21

A spur of the moment trip had myself, Brad(Familyfisher), and Jake(Amberjake) Headed south out of Carrabelle at Sunrise hoping for big fishes. We past the sea buoy and headed south. We were greeted with a choppy 1-2 foot sea as the sun made a grand appearance. The number we were plotting...

    SUZUKI or YAMAHA

I've done the homework on this one. 'Zuke all the way. Catch them right and get a 6 year warranty. In the 250 they are lighter and have better low end power.
