Electronics: Looking to go iPad based

This is all rather intriguing. How is the screen in the sunlight, or on a sunny day under the hardtop?

    Gas prices

Electric cars pay no fuel tax...by Doc's logic we should add a surtax (in addition to the taxes that we all pay) to electricity delivered to the car pods...why should they get away w/o "paying their share" to the transportation fund?

    Winterising 1999 Sailfish

Andrew On my 95 sailfish the macerator pump is located inside the holding tank. Our was stuck too. I filled the holding tank with clear water and let is set for a few days. This freed up the macerator and it's worked ever since.

Vacuum on oil injection....is this normal?

Gw208, You are correct. It was pressure. I opened the cap and the air was indeed escaping out, not being sucked in. Everything runs good and it is using oil so I guess all is ok. Thanks for the feedback.

Vacuum on oil injection....is this normal?

I have a 1995 27 sailfish with twin 200 mercury EFI. When I open the fill caps for the 2 stroke oil, there's a tremendous vacuum....to the point that it's difficult to open the cap. Shouldn't the oil injection system be vented? Both tanks are doing this.

    Navigation light problem

There should be two bulbs in the mast light....one front and one back. Both bulbs should light whether in anchor or navigation mode. Sounds like the forward bulb has corroded at the contact or needs replacing. As I re- read this, it sounds like a loose contact between the switch and the...

Threw hull or in hull Transducer

Greatwhite, Can't speak to the handling differences between a Gulfstream and a Sailfish...for us, it's the stand-up head and the transom door. Also seems like the bridge is elevated a foot or so on the sailfish. Downsizing from a fly bridge, this influenced our choice as well.

Threw hull or in hull Transducer

Bob, What liquid did you use in your Airmar? We used red water system antifreeze. A buddy suggested linseed oil. Maybe a different fluid helps?

Threw hull or in hull Transducer

I have. The Airmar "shoot thru" and it's junk. It starts with no reading and eventually shows a depth..say 10'. Once the first depth appears, it never changes regardless of speed. Maybe the Grady Hulls are too thick...I believe they are not cored, but solid, correct?. Next winter I'll be...

Try "Roll Away" spray. We've always had good results with mildew. Follow with some 303 protectant. Follow instructions for both

Anyone have any luck ordering original canvas?

Try M &M Boat Sales in Middle River, MD. They do a lot of Grady stuff. You might have to send them the two adjacent pieces so they can properly do the zippers. 410-391-2333

    6hp 4 stroke on a 10'6" dingy

We had a 6hp Suzuki on a 9'-6" AB RIB. The 6 hp pushes the boat fine. If you want to get it up on plane, you'll need a tiller extension so you can sit up front. Also won't plane with more than one person. Our boat weighed about 108# dry. The package worked great as a tender to our last...
