What a boating season this is and f250 update

Are you using Mid Carolina Marine in Columbia, SC as your GW dealer? I was told by an ex employee of Lockwood that they are still a dealer but can't get any floor plan to inventory any boats.

Coil went bad on center cylinder starboard side

Good point and I asked them about that. They said that the oil was practically new and that there was not a real strong odor or presence of fuel in it. They really didn't think it would be necessary at this point. I'll keep a close eye on it though.

Coil went bad on center cylinder starboard side

Thanks Tashmoo, I understand what making oil really is and I'm sure it was caused by exactly what you said due to the unburnt fuel in the cylinder with the bad coil. My question was really to see if anyone had ever had a coil go bad on their engine.

Coil went bad on center cylinder starboard side

Friends, Was out on my '08 225 on the Ohio River over the weekend when the F250 seemed to lose some of it's power and torque. It would still run but has a miss to it and I couldn't get it much over 5000 RPM WOT. The MPG indicator was only showing at best about 2.8 @ 4000 RPM. It's usually 3.3...

    Ring Free $27.99 a quart!

I'm sure you're right when you say Sea Foam works well but it requires 1oz of Sea Foam per gallon of gas. Ring Free only requires 1oz per 10 gallons of gas. Is it that much cheaper at those ratios?

    Optima Batteries Anyone?

If you talk to customer service @ Grady White or Yamaha they will tell you not to use AGM batteries. They will recommend that you go back to the Dekas that are flooded and came as original equipment on the boat. I'm not sure but I think it has to do with the inability of the Yamaha engines to...

    Ring Free $27.99 a quart!

I think this is just the regular Ring Free. I don't believe it's the Ring Free + Additive if that's what you mean.

    trailering a 208 or 228

Jim, I suspect you're right. I only hold 96 gallons and have a dual axle trailer with leaf springs not torsion axles.

What happened to East Coast Trailers?

I went to their web site today and they say it's under construction with no additional information. Does anyone know if they're still in business?

    trailering a 208 or 228

Jim, I know what you're saying is technically correct about the weight of the fuel, but my 225 tows much better full than empty. It tracks better, bounces less, and sways less full than empty. I really prefer the handling when it's full and I tow it with a crew cab Sierra 1500 4X4 5.3L V-8 w/...

    New Yamaha 300 hp

Ed, My F250 is also spec'd for 89 octane fuel. Since my boat lives on it's trailer I don't have a problem finding it @ Kroger or other land based gas stations. With the Kroger card that $0.15 discount per gallon really makes the 89 octane more affordable. I saw in the new issue of Soundings...

Design Flaws with 2010 Grady Tournament 275

Sealoft, Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how'd you like the play?

    290 Chesapeake

Bob, I agree with you. I think a 27' boat with an 8'6" beam and a generator w/ an enclosed head compartment could be a big draw. Base it on the 275 hull and get it in production!

    290 Chesapeake

My own opinion is that the Chesapeake is too close to the Marlin or the 305 Express to differentiate itself. I personally think that GW would have been better to adapt the Sailfish to offer a generator option or come up with a 27' design at a lower price point. It's too big a step up in $ from...

Design Flaws with 2010 Grady Tournament 275

Sealoft, I have a Tournament 225 and all the things you mention are the same for me except that my pedestal helm seat does have a height adjustment. If you have the electric helm seat with the wet bar a vertical adjustment would seem to be impossible. All your concerns are not design flaws...

    Yamaha 225 w/500hrs

Shouldn't be a problem if they've been serviced as recommended and the owner can document that. Remember what Reagan said, "trust but verify". I would also have compression checks done all cylinders just for peace of mind. I would want to know when the water pump impeller was last changed. I've...

    Dumb battery question

Viper Drum, My only dissatisfaction with my 225 is how hard it is to get to the batteries for service or replacement. You have to turn the lead acid Dekas on their side to get it in the battery area. I would love to go to AGMs for that reason when it's time to replace them but Yamaha tells me...
