Please show me your additional electronic switches

I'm adding a few electronics to the Sailfish and want each on it's own switch. But, the dash is pretty well full of switches for all the existing toys. I'm sure many of you have added switches and done so in an aesthetically pleasing manner. I'd like to see what others have done before I...

    Wiper Blade Replacement Help

Mine were SS arms, but I swapped them out for a set of 18" arms and blades at Costco. Work just fine and bend well to the contours of the window.

    Sailfish Help

Some have confirmed corrosion issues. google yamaha and corrosion. Certainly not all of them, as we hear more about the bad ones than the ones with no problems. But, it can get expensive if you are the unlucky owner.

    halibut opener in WA

The one on the left side of the country. Sunday was the opener for halibut. Coupled a day for flatties with some lincod fishing. Took us about 40 minutes to get our 10 lings (5-26.4#) and 4 drifts to get our 5 flatties (14-28#). Our water was glassy smooth on Sunday. 7+' on Saturday and...

    Sailfish Help

F250s for sure. you'll avoid corrosion issues with F225s and the extra power is nice to have. I get about 1.3 mg on tuna days (5 adults and usually 3-6' swells with anywhere from 1-3' chop, not 6' and 3'!!!). 1.6 cruising around the Puget Sound at a leisurely pace. Maxed out I hit 5,900 -...

    Thumbs up to Teleflex

I'm adding an Autopilot finally and was at the hydraulic shopping talking about having 3 new lines made to go from the helm to the Garmin 2.1L pump. I had measured the necessary length, but neglected to get the fittings size on the helm. So while at the shop, I call Grady. The gentleman I spoke...

right trailer for 28' 282 sailfish

Mine's a 2007 with F250s. Magic Tilt tandem axle, 8 lugs per 16" wheel, aluminum. Made it from FL to WA last year and we trailer 125 miles each way to our fishing area. No problems so far. And I am glad I only have the tandem. Easy to maneuver and cheaper when replacing bearings, tires...

Who has little awnings off the hardtop??

I sometimes feel a little bad for crew sitting on the fish boxes. Whenever we are out in the rain (which happens occassionally in western WA) or we take waves over the bow, the water from the hardtop rolls aft and drips/pours onto those folks. I'm thinking a little awning off the rear of the...

OEM 6-hole launcher for 282 Sailfish

They are in VA. Butch was very nice to deal with. Even sent a replacement latch for the stern fish box for free. Website isn't the easiest to use, so I just call when I need parts now.

OEM 6-hole launcher for 282 Sailfish

The factory rocket launcher for 282 is a 5-hole. But that just wasn't enough. Found a great deal on an OEM 6-hole launcher from Southeastern Marine and got it installed today. Looks great and the rods seem pretty well accessible. Plenty of room underneath that I'm not concerned about anyone...

    bigger plotter :)

Enige power, as in a direct feed from the engine (which doesn't seem right) or the same line that feeds the engine switches? If the former, then it sounds like that VHF would only operate when the motors where running? If the later, then I can see that VHF being hot as long as the battery...

    bigger plotter :)

Had a great opportunity to upgrade and add a VHF200, so I took it. Went from 8" to 12". I think I'm going to like it :dance I need to move the original VHF over to the AUX switch and the new Garmin VHF to the radio switch (assuming they are different batteries).

Concerned about F225 exhaust corrosion and oil seal problem

Re: Concerned about F225 exhaust corrosion and oil seal prob Brother bought a 2003 Parker with a 2002 F225 from Florida two years ago. Thought everything was fine til last month. He's looking at 3k in repairs from corrosion, pending final teardown. I figured I'd play it safe as possible and...

Installing Garmin AP and upgrading to a 4212 Display

Our rigs are a little different. My forward bilge (under the midberth hatch) has a bilge pump at the forward section and I'm worried that will affect the CCU. So, I moved the water lines that run from my hotwater heater (forward berth storage under the anchor rode locker) through the forward...

Looking to install a seperate fish finder.

I think the ducer change would be required if you went with the GSD26. Should be fine with the GSD24. There's a long thread at THT, marine electronics section
