Sluggoe, I have a 2002 Yamaha F-225 annd on my trim unit, there is a fill hole on port side cyclinder that hold the trim rod. It looks like a hex bolt about 1/2 way up the cylinder.

Is the power trim/tilt fluid that Yamaha manufactures the same as ordinary power steering or automatic transmission fluid? Other than being twice as expensive, is there any difference? Let me know what you use to top off the reservoir

I seem to be leaking hydraulic fluid from my engine trim pistons. I think I may have forgotten to trim the engine all the way down last week when I was working on the boat in the yard. Now when I try to move the engine up or down, it moves very slowly, but I don't see any fluid leaking out...

After trying everything else, I finally resorted to the dremel to get the key out and it worked. Unfortunately I did put a slight groove in the edge of the key slot on the drive shaft with the cutting disk, which was the reason I didn't want to use the dremel in the first place, but hopefully...

Thanks Bob. I guess I will try the Dremmel. Heat and Hammer & Awl have not worked. I am worried about accidentally cutting the drive shaft but I'll just try to be extra careful.....The rest of the job has gone like clockwork. The key has been a huge pain in the A_ _!

I am in the middle of changing out the water pump on a Yamaha F-225 and can't get the woodruff key out. I have read the posts about using the Dremel and may give that a try next. I have also seen recommnedations of using a chisel to drive it out. My question is how hard can you hit the key...

What do you recommend using to clean and polish a stainless steel prop? Will any stainless steel cleaner do, or is there a particular "marine" product that needs to be used?

Is there any reason not to use the same wax on the cowling and engine that you use to wax the hull?

Sounds like there are many different techniques. I think I will try it by hand and see how it goes.

As a rnew boat owner, this will be my first year waxing the hull of my 2002 Gulfstream. Do most people use a buffer to apply/remove wax, or is it better to do it by hand?

Thanks for the responses I didn't intend to use the light as a headlight. Just wanted to be able to turn it on on occaision when encountering fields of lobster pots which don't show on radar and are not plainly visible unless there is a bright moon.
