    E15 GAS

I read the news on great grady that certain michigan gas stations on land are using e15 and that boaters should only fill up at marinas. I did not realize that the epa was allowing this e15 to be used. I hope that the ny long island land stations will at least post if their tanks are using this...

My sailfish has 2004 engines. I did call grady referencing your same question between 225's and 250 since same weight. the problem is that the hull is rated for max 450 hp. You might run into an insurance issue if you overpower the hull. max speed in the mid 40's at 6000 rpm's , My cruising rpm...

    Squeaky steering wheel

Hi Capt and welcome to the forum, I had the same problem with my grady tilt wheel, What i had to do is pull the steering wheel using a wheel puller, remove the black plastic cover so that you can spray a white lube or similar into the universal joint. I had tried spraying every visable joint...

    lost 1 engine, possible repower

the fuel burn is roughly 1.5 to 1.7 statute mpgs., running 4000 rpms 25 knots, 17-18gph fuel burn rate. I bought the boat in 2005 freshly repowered so i cannot comment on the prior setup. the boat with the 225 4s runs great, top end around 45 mph @ 6000 rpms.

Sailfish in tight 3 to 5 foot seas

The key i found is to trim the motors down and use tabs to bring the bow into the seas. Yes there will be spray but the ride will be more tame. Take the same seas with up trim and there will be pounding. I absolutely love the boat!!

shift/throttle cable hard to move- Johnson 175

i would first disconnect the cable from the motor and see if the shifter moves freely. I just went through 2 broken cables in 2 years on my 98 sailfish. I ended up replacing the remaining 2-easy repair and cost around $60 each for the better cables. i used the old cable as a snake for the new...

    30' Marlin Questions

I have not experienced that lo bow situation in my 98 sailfish, she always tends to run bow up, motors trimmed 4 bars, no tabs the time i need bow down, i have to use the tabs. this can be possibly due to heavier 4 strokes on the transom!!.

Sailfish 272 fuel economy and engines

Hi, I have a 98 sailfish repowered with f225's. The 98 running surface has been extended under the eurotransom, 97 and earlier have not. the boat i believe is rated at 450 hp. The f225's average about 1.5 to 1.7 statute mpg's. The jonnies you have on the hull right now are VERY thirsty motors...

1998 272 sailfish best possible fuel burn

another thing nice about the 4strokes they are quiet!!, the 98 sailfish is the 1st year that the running surface was extended under the euro transom, this is good if you plan to repower with the 4 strokes-addded bouyancy, the 1997 and earlier have a stepped up running hull under transom.

265Express owners - prop tweaking for better MPG's

Hi, I did some messing around with props, First what does your rig turn wide open, you want to see 6000 rpms. My sailfish with f225's had yammie 19"s which only maxed out at 5400-5500, tried the 17, 3 blade yammies, got the rpms but didnt like the mid range bite especially in rougher seas, I...
