I went with a garmin 741xs on my 208 Adventure and so far I'm very pleased with it. Fits nicely in the electronics box too.

On my 208 the inline valve and live well pump are right next to the bilge pump at the rear of the boat. It's a very awkward reach to get to the valve but I guess that's where they install them.

My boat came with a tube of Flitz from Grady to use on the rails and Bimini supports, I'd try that first.

The manual says to use a product like "Alumaguard". No abrasives and no chlorine bleach products. It even goes as far as to say you should wash it with gentle cleaners like ivory liquid soap. I didn't know that.

Was this corrosion issue limited to the 02 -04 225's only? Is it still a problem with current Outboards?
