    This keeps getting better and better... Started off doing annual service. Found water in both gear cases, so pulled lowers to do seals & pressure tests, water pumps, etc. Scoped, discovered corrosion & ordered center section exhaust kits. Scope sucks, so couldn't really see block condition...

    It's out... Clamped slide hammer on with a pipe clamp. Re-heated, and it came right out. Diagnosis? I found out you can't pull a counter rotating unit this way, you have to hammer out the carrier and prop shaft together! I watched at least 4 videos, none of them mentioned counter rotating...

    I used a large flat blade screwdriver and strategically pried back and forth until they broke free, then needle nose vice grips to pull. Do NOT stick a round bar in the bolt hole and pry, the housing is weak and will break. I had to order one after learning that lesson... The annodes are...

    Bit the bullet and ordered the tool... I already took a chunk out using a slide hammer, and broke a bolt trying to use a regular puller with chain wrapped.

    Yeah, but I don't want to buy the tool unless I have too... I have been adding penetrating oil for a week. All day today have used a slide hammer and heat to the point the penetrating oil sizzles and smokes, no dice. Anyone?
