    New here, looking for Grady

You might want to look at the freedom models. They have an enclosed head but no cabin.

    Radar use

I’ve read that you are supposed to use any aid to navigation that you have when ever you are running. That being said how many people out there use their radar all of the time

    New radar user

I just got a new to me 228 with a new Raymarine open array radar. Does the house battery need to be upgraded to accommodate the radar or will a typically sized house battery work. I haven’t picked up the boat yet so I don’t know the size of the battery only that it is holding a charge as checked...

    New to me 228

I’m just getting ready to close on a 2009 228. Has under 400 hours on the 250 and all new electronics including HD radar. Had it surveyed and everything checked out good. I’m moving up from a 205 and hoping to see a reasonable difference in space and ride. Any advice or comments will be...

    228 sea trial

Thanks for the replies. Turns out that Yamaha totally redesigned the f250 in 2010 and the performance numbers that I was using were from 2010. Also found out that the trim indicator was not operating properly. After the fixed the indicator we were able to get within 1mph of the published...

    228 sea trial

I’m in the process of buying a 2009 228 with a 250. During the sea trial it run up to 6000rpm with no problems but the speed was about 8 mph less than expected. Top speed was 39 mph. The bottom is painted but clean and fairly smooth, no water in the bilge and no curtains. It ran great nice and...

    228 vs 205

I currently have a 2016 205 and I am considering moving up to a 228. I was wondering how big of a difference there's going be between the two in terms of ride and performance. Thanks

    freedom 225 power

I'm considering a new, 2017, 225 but it's powered by a 200. Does anyone have any experience with a 225 powered by a 200, I'm concerned that it will be underpowered.

    New Grady White Owner

I echo the replies regarding the safety courses. I bought the same boat last year and I can tell you that you couldn't have made a better choice for your first boat. As one of the others said practice docking and become confident in your abilities. I run mine single handed most of the time and...

weight of a 205 freedom on trailer

I have a 2016 205 freedom. I am planning on buying a trailer for it this spring. I am also having to buy a tow vehicle. As close as I can figure the boat will weight slightly over 4000# with fuel and equipment and I am guessing that the trailer will be around 1000#. This puts me slightly over...

    2 questions, adventure 208

I have had my 205 with the I4 200 for a week now and have put between 5 and 10 hours on it. I had it out in a 2 to 3 foot following sea yesterday and was able to maintain 25 to 30 mph (on the GPS) with no throttle adjustments. Not sure that I could have done that with the 150.

    2016 205 Freedom

I'm sure that the 205 will handle the Delaware Bay and the ocean. I bought mine with the intention of fishing both the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays as well as 10 to 15 miles offshore in the ocean. I had it out on the Chesapeake this past weekend and there was a 2 to 3 foot chop and I was able...

    2016 205 Freedom

I just took delivery of my 2016 205 Freedom. Took it for a short run (about 10 miles round trip) and it exceeded my expectations. I got the new I4 200 Yamaha and I have to say that it is the perfect match for this boat. The boat jumps up on plane, has good acceleration and a decent top end. It...

    2 questions, adventure 208

I am taking delivery today of a new 205 with a 200 I4. I did the sea trial yesterday and I have to say I think that this is the perfect motor for the 20 footers. I test ran a 209 with a 150 and felt that it would be slightly underpowered with a good load or bad conditions. I obviously haven't...

    Looking at Islanders

The Islander is a great boat. I was considering a 2001 that was re-powered but decided to go with a new boat instead. You need to get a good survey and make sure that the surveyor uses a moisture meter. At the age of any Islander you're at risk for having a moisture issue. Good luck
