I have an ‘87 Overnighter too, only mine has a Suzuki DT225. If the engine ever dies I’ll mount the F200 4cylinder on it. I think you’ll do fine with the 150 though. Their great outboards.

Agreed. I was going to say disconnect it but if you can trip the breaker or shut it off it’s the simplest way to find out what it’s “not powering” at that point.

I don’t know, you can get a boat like this, throw a new tank in it and a few other repairs and have a great useable boat. Even if he pays $5k and throws another $5k into it compare that to the price of a new Grady.

That crack just looks like the bracket was over tightened. Go over the crack with 3M5200 to seal it. You could point to that as a means to drive the price down but it wouldn’t worry me. You’ll see that kinda thing on brand new boats.

The carpet is wrapped around a board and will come out. Keep it simple. Replace the boards with starboard, Azek, or poly. It can be bought in colors and has been my plan to purchase it in tan to match my deck paint.

Agree with both points 100%. nothing to panic over. Just mount a transom plate with a little 3M 5200 behind it to seal the cracked gel coat. I would mount a transom plate whether it looked like it needed it or not. It’s cheap insurance.

Would’ve passed my test ;) Mount a good fuel/water separator in case moisture is getting into the tank and check the bilge often for fuel leaks as boats that age either have had their fuel tanks replaced or are due. Go enjoy it and keep the speed down in the rough stuff.
