    GW 222

I have a 2000 GW 222 that is for sale. I've had it about 3 years and have really enjoyed it. I like the layout and it rides great for a 22' boat. The only reason I'm selling is that my offshore days are over, and I'm looking to buy a smaller bay boat for inshore use. It's listed here if...

180 Sportsman console rod holder install

Thanks Greatty. I was able to install the rod holders on the port side. Decided to upgrade the washers to provide more support inside the console, and also drilled a hole and inserted a stainless screw at the bottom of the rod tubes to support a gimbal butt. It was tough to get my hand...

180 Sportsman console rod holder install

A quick update - I pulled the cover off last night and checked it out. There is no panel on my 1999 180, but I could just barely get may hand behind the attachment area on the port side by reaching behind the cc door. No way to get to the starboard side without removing the fresh water tank...

180 Sportsman console rod holder install

I called Grady White and spoke to Bert in Customer Service. He said they are through-bolted with a nut and washer. Access is through a removable panel in the console below the fresh water tank. Next time it isn't 100 degrees out I'll take the cover off and get them installed.

    help-tilt n trim,dosn't always go up

It is part number 14 on the schematic here: http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamah ... parts.html There may be a way to confirm this is what's wrong, but when I had the same issue, this is what I was told by Andy at Shipyard Island Marine. He is a vendor over on THT. He gave me the...

180 Sportsman console rod holder install

I'll have to take a picture of the hardware I have. My concern is that short self tapping screws won't be strong enough if I have 2 offshore setups on each side. I'd hate to have a screw pull out.

    help-tilt n trim,dosn't always go up

When you use the button on the engine, do you hear a click sound from the starboard side of the engine? I had to replace the trim relay switch on my 2003 200 HPDI. The click sound led to a quick diagnosis without further testing. The part was around $250, it took me about 30 minutes to...

180 Sportsman console rod holder install

The 1999 180 I recently purchased does not have the plastic console mounted rod holders installed. The prior owner gave them to me with hardware. I went to install them this morning and the screw he provided don't make sense. There are self-threading screws with washers installed where the...

    New to me 180-1st pic

As Brian and I PM'd back and forth, we realized our lives have had a lot in common. Our parents know each other, I have actually stayed at Bears Den 3 times, and I've talked to Bob's brother a few times about the cabin and mountain biking. If I wasn't a bit older we probably would have known...

    New to me 180-1st pic

I actually pulled a "reverse two foot-itus", going from a 22' to an 18'. The bottom is in pretty rough shape, but everything in the interior and above the water line is almost like new. Not a stress crack anywhere. This thing is a tank compared to my prior boat. I need to get the bottom done...

    New to me 180-1st pic

I decided to jump on a 1999 Sportsman 180 that became available this weekend. Special thanks goes out to Parthery for his insight and advice. Drove from Orlando to Charleston to pick it up. The bottom needs attention, but everything else is in great shape. Only 345 hours on the 150 Johnson...

    New Member Saying Hey

Thanks Captain. My 22' Sea Pro had a 200 HPDI which was close to max. It was nice to have the extra power, but offshore I rarely got to take advantage of it due to conditions. I see there are a lot of members from Long Island. Last summer I had the opportunity to visit Southhampton and stay...

    New Member Saying Hey

Thought I'd say a quick hello since I just joined. I see some familiar screen names from THT and other forums. I sold my Sea Pro 220 last week and one of the boats on my short list is a 180 Sportsman. Time to downsize! I'll post in the For Sale/Wanted section soon. Today I was speaking to...
