    Selling Grady need advice

I'd like some advice on what is a realistic asking price for my 1994 center console 24 ft "Chase 243" (26'-11" Overall) It's powered by a 2006 Yamaha 250 TUR and sits on a custom trailer by Owens and Sons. The trailer is less than two years old. It has the torsion axles 4 stainless brakes and...

    Transom angle

That is funny. Just got back from Lowe's. Finally had a break from the rain so it's time to get going. And yes, I gotta admit I tend to overthink the easy stuff. Lol

    Transom angle

Can anyone tell me what the transom angle is for a Chase model. I need to remove the engine to do some transom work and will be making an engine stand. I think it's 12*. I know it's not a big deal but I'd like to have it right. Might help when I remove the engine and it matches the stand. I am...

    SeaStar Fluid

I recently replaced my leaking seals at the engine steering unit and then bled the system. I used the Phillips 66 fluid and it works great. I was fortunate enough to buy it from our local airport so it I saved shipping. Nothing wrong with buying the SeaStar branded fluid if it makes you feel...

    Steering replacement

I suggest you repair your existing cable system since the cost of the Sea Star is very expensive. I have the Sea Star and it is a good way to go if you want the upgrade.

    Adding a Porta-Pottie

Thanks Dennis. I'll do just that.

    Drain Replacement

While I am not sure about the Marlin it looks like your transome is similar to my chase. I removed the trash can on the Port side and hung upside down to complete the work. You can cut an access hatch but I wouldn't if you can otherwise do the job. I'm an old overweight guy so if I can do it...

    Adding a Porta-Pottie

I've been looking into buying a porta-pottie for my 243 Chase. It's almost identical to the 263 Chase so if you have a porta-pottie set up on your 263 please add advice. I want the simplest set up without a pump out and understand I'll have to remove the tank to empty. Can anybody tell me...

Transom fitting for engine rigging hose

I am about to replace a tired worn out rigging hose on my Chase with a Yamaha F250, but I am not sure how this should be secured to the transom. Right now the hose is just plunged into a rubber seal on the transom without any watertight connection. It's my guess that something is missing. Any...

    Removing Stern Seat Back Cushion

Glad you asked this question. I need to remove mine after some other work. I did want to ask if you added that access hatch adjacent to the Port aft section. I may do that or something like it.

    Interpreting HID numbers

Some interesting stuff and helpful comments. Wish we had more year for year reports just to satisfy our interest for our GreatGrady's.

    Interpreting HID numbers

It really would make sense if they started at 001. If so I guess somebody had to have the number 243 and I won. Lol

    Interpreting HID numbers

Thank you for the information. According to your details my serial number is 243 built in April (D). I can't help but wonder if my hull was the first Chase built. Perhaps they began with the new design being a CH243.

    Interpreting HID numbers

Can anyone explain the imbedded information of the Hull Identification Numbers. I would like to know the production number for my 243 Chase built in 1994. Also, does anybody have an idea how many 243's were built before they started on the 263 Chase boats. I'm just curious.

Deck drain scuppers for 1994 Chase

I just finished removing one old deck drain and through hull fitting. The old hose was crispy crunchy. The NEW deck drain fits great. It does sit a little lower since the top is smaller, but the caulk will take care of this. I used a dremel to cut the old fittings for removal. I can't imagine...

Deck drain scuppers for 1994 Chase

I just picked up my order for the plastic ones from Marine Maintenance (Jimmy). The fitting looks like it is going to be a good fit but the head is a little smaller diameter. Nothing that a good bead of caulk can't fix. I just measured the diameter of the head on my old ones on the boat and...

    Mid Bilge Pump Advice

I do believe running through the tank coffin is a good idea. I will add that IMO the Chase is a bear beneath the deck.

    Mid Bilge Pump Advice

Adjusting the bunks on the lift is an option. I left them level since I may change from stern in to bow in first. I like stern in since it gives me a better view on the boat (thieves). The other reason for adding a mid bilge is redundancy. I recently had a custom trailer built from Owen's and...
