    Honda 250 taking a bath

I also have a 2005 Tourney 225, with the OEM 225 Yamaha 4-stroke V6. FWIW, I've always noticed that the lower edge of the main motor cowling seems to touch the water while first getting onto plane. Might be due to the fact that it's a bracket mounted outboard, and the leverage of the hull +...

    Towing a GW 235 with BMW X5?

I've used a Uhaul 1/2 ton rental pickup to tow my 225 tournament with no issues.

    Freedom / tournament 225 vs 275

I have a Tournament 225....solid boat. Beam on the 225 is 8', the 275 is 8"6" I believe. Since these are Dual Console boats, there is plenty of seating. I regularly head out with 7-8 folks. 4-5 up front and 2 on the rear bench + driver & 2 on the back-to- back passenger seat. Yeah it's a bit...

    Hardtop on a Tournament?

JCB...I currently have a 225 Tourney....the orig. bimini in pretty ratty shape. Where did you get your oversized bimini when you had the Tournament?

    Cost of Ownership Question

My experience mirrors Rustygaff....an advantage of boating on the Texas gulf coast is no winterizing or shrinkwrapping! 225 Tournament, single F225 Fuel for the average year about $600 (I don't put a lot of hours on her) Insurance through Progressive is about $750, including sign & glide (like...

I want to put my boat's name on the transom....

Sean...so those letters are only 4.1" high...looks very good. Same boat (and city) as me so it's a big help. doityourselflettering.com has an excellent design tool.

Any ideas or guidance on the letter size? It's a 225 Tournament, with the engine bracket

Grady White 216 Fisherman vs Coastal Explorer 251

I would think that if you're going off-shore just a few miles and pick your days carefully, the 251 should be fine. It certainly has much less freeboard than a 216, and less of a deep-vee in the running surface. It's kind of a hybrid bay boat, but with more deadrise than a pure bay boat has. The...

    225 Tournament, biggest GPS? HDS12?

I think it's a Gen 2...bought in 2018. I use the transom mount TotalScan transducer it came with. Works very well

    225 Tournament, biggest GPS? HDS12?

I have a Lowrance HDS 9" in mine.....seems adequate and gives me some space to store small items along the sides. Not a lot of handy cubbies in this boat so I didn't want to jam in a 12". Might fit though...take some measurements.

    New to me - 2005 225 Tournament

Nice choice CBH...got my '05 225 Tourney in 2018 (after losing my SeaRay in hurricane Harvey in '17). It's been a gem, best boat I've ever owned. By all means hit me up if you have any questions.

    New bimini top suggestions

My '05 Tournament 225 has a pretty rickety bimini; it's the original. I'd like to replace it as a winter project, but I would also like to have one that's a bit longer and maybe 2" higher as well. Is there a reputable top shop anyone could recommend that might make something other than OEM sized?

    Hello Texans

Lsquared....I keep my 225 Tourney at Cove Harbor! Lost my Sea Ray at CH during Harvey in '17, so upgraded to the Grady with the insurance money. 200 of the 400 boats at CH were totaled during Harvey. It was something to see.

I am considering a mechanical fuel gauge on top of fuel tank

Gray D...yes the 14" model fits bolt-in. same holes, just use the new screws and gasket supplied with the unit. I found a schematic of the 92 gallon GW fuel tank on-line, and the depth of the tank at the aft end of the tank was 14". so just a bit deeper where the gauge/ sender arm sits. Close...
