Removal of caulk around Engine Bracket (2004 Gil Bracket)

I recently had a marine shop remove mine and they used Sikaflex when replacing it. I previously used 3m 4200. Either will work.

Making 24 offshore open transom safer offshore...

I have an 88 Offshore with a full transom and Grady Drive for the motor bracket. It isn't the euro style though. I can't figure out how to attach a photo to this link. Mariner

    Verado on Seafarer?

I have an 88 24' Offshore that had a Johnson 225. In 2007 I replaced it with a Verado 250. It completely transformed the boat. The top end speed increased, mileage doubled at a cruise, and you could hold a conversation without yelling at each other. If you are one that likes to go full throttle...

    Helm Seat Tension Knob

Or make your own. I drilled a golf ball and epoxied it on. I would attach a photo but I am computer challenged at the moment. Cheers, Mariner

    Thanks! - fuel line replacement

Well Done. Not the easiest job to complete. Did you change out the vent lines also? If you have any additional tidbits of information to assist the next person, feel free to add them to your post. Mariner

Fuel level switch, is it necessary?

Yup, Just what Parthery indicated. The fuel toggle is mainly used for Gradys with two fuel tanks. One gauge display and the toggle switch will give you the readings for each tank. Mariner

    Testing Horn

I don't believe that it matters on the wiring. Most electric horns do not have a specific positive or negative wire. Failure of the horn is a common problem due to exposure and corrosion. It is easier to buy a new replacement and be done with it.

    1984 Sailfish 25

New Wire Marine (newwiremarine.com) I used them last year for a project on an 88 Offshore. They do excellent work and are very responsive to any questions or requests. Go to the website and there is a section that you can design your project and get an estimate on the cost. I opted for the...

Fuel fill hose replacement 192 Tournament

One other point of interest is a large amount of silicone is used to secure the hose(s) thru bulkhead holes. If this is the case, the silicone needs to be cut/removed before the hose can be removed. You really need to remove the fuel tank deck cover to do investigate it further. I drilled a...

Fuel fill hose replacement 192 Tournament

I recently changed my fuel fill and vent hoses on an 88 Offshore 24. In my case the main fill lines had cable ties secured to various locations in an area that was not easily accessible. I had to remove the deck hatch over the forward tank and cut a 4" inspection hole in the bulkhead under the...

REPOWER QUESTION FOR AN OFFSHORE 24

What were you running for horsepower with twins? You might have an issue with the bracket going from twins to a single also......just guessing. I hear good things about the new E-Tec motors from Evinrude, since you prefer that brand.

REPOWER QUESTION FOR AN OFFSHORE 24

I also have the 24' Offshore. It came with a Johnson 225 and it was a thirsty beast. I would average 1 mile per gallon and 14-16 gallons per hour at a cruise. Wide open throttle would make me cringe.....and that was when gas was under 2.00 a gallon. I repowered with the Verado 250. I average 2.5...

repairing fiberglass fuel tank coffin lid

Beagleboy, I recently did the same job. I removed the old wood myself and cut out the new 1/2" plywood. I took it to my fiberglass expert and he said 1/2" was thick enough and since it was going to be completely epoxied in, marine grade wood was not necessary. I also had him repair a chunk...
