    Rub rail protector

WOW some great ideas Dennis, great description, you didn't need the "crude drawing". Simple and elegant. Or, as is my mantra, quick and dirty. Halfhitch. LOVE IT. Not sure how owner would. If you get my drift. Skunk, I am sure it has merit, can't visualize. Perhaps a "crude drawing" is...

    Rub rail protector

:D:D:Do_O a number of people just might have objections , I think. I'd rather hang the tire from the piling, but may interfere with the docks rise and fall .

unlike north of the cape and especially Maine, our greatest range is from -.5 to 5.5 Mean from 0.0 to approx 4.2. least neap is from 1.0 to 3.0 (approx) gonna haft look for a roller. I wanted a pulpit with windless but was talked out of it.

    Cuttyhunk

My wind app is Windy and "generally" accurate. Yesterday it was good. We left on the high tide with 1.4 kt winds and came back when forecast (as you noted) said noon would pick up. SLIGHT rippling starting on tops of swells. We had 2.5 hours of nearly glass with only swells to contend with...

    Rub rail protector

Thanks for the clarification of the purpose of the chain. I think I have pulled it up over the rail, but did not launch it so. I will look into that method. And it will be easier to protect the rail with even a towel or split a vinyl chafe guard. good ideas. thanks.

    Rub rail protector

This is what I have been wondering about. But a nervous nelly about removing screws and replacing with same diameter and thread but longer to hold down the necessary length of ANYthing - even split garden hose. Or maybe a thin piece of wood that would bend (no steamer have I). ANYthing. thanks...

    Cuttyhunk

Yesterday, (Sunday) Buzz Bay was like glass in AM. Decided time right to take our new (in May) 208 from 'poisett to Cuttyhunk - wife has never been. Was very surprised (and disappointed) how popular and crowded it has become. Have been a few times during week in last few years and was appalled...

After our last exchange, that was exactly my thought. We dont use anchor that much, so I could probably get away with - carefully inspecting rope after each use. -Thanks.

    Rub rail protector

It's not so much how much anchor chain I have, it's about how much chain these old arms, hands, and shoulders can keep away from the rub rail. My right wing just came out of a sling (rotator cuff repair) about two weeks ago. Very little strength and coordination in my dominant arm. Cant even...

    Rub rail protector

Essentially, that's what I want to do without actually replacing. I want something like rope, rubber, wood, or vinyl that will easily attach (stick) to existing rub rail. YES, RUB against a rub rail with no trading paint, gel coat or anything. You know what I want. Thank you

    Rub rail protector

I know fender boards. I will have to research thoroughly and see if they are a practical solution. I do know they will do the job. But remember, this is a small boat with a very narrow walkway from cockpit to bow and very little storage space. I have kinda discounted fender boards because of...

    Rub rail protector

I think you might have me displaced. As you walk down the southern ramp I have a feeling you may have misplaced us. Third slip on left from south ramp. I think that Regulator is 3 or 4 away. Right across from us is Tim's Sea Ox (got swamped during storm) . I am uploading old satellite pict...

    Rub rail protector

Thanks for the idea. I have been trying to figure our how to fender the piling. With the overhang of the deck, it would need be substantial. One slip has a carpeted 2×4 angled (45°) between the two dock pieces. If I can't come up with a boat solution, I will talk to owner about dock/piling...

    Rub rail protector

Yes he has. So happy to be there. If we haven't yet, hope to meet you soon. If you can't tell, we are at slip #27. I think the only 208 .

    Rub rail protector

Our marina slip has a piling just off the bow of our 208. (see pict). A couple of times this year when I've executed a less than perfect docking, the rub rail has made significant contact with that immovable and rusty structure. The rub rail's stainless steel overlap now has noticeable gouges...

2020 208 Bimini boot "snap fast" not holding

Thanks all for the input. Not to belabor the point but I just examined the options discussed. If the little white plastic stud were removed and moved forward of the folded bimini, I have a feeling it would be subject to receive and to give damage as it would be in a place that gets walked and...

2020 208 Bimini boot "snap fast" not holding

yah, I will need to talk to the dealer and see who is responsible. I have a strong feeling that the bimini manufacturer (Great Lakes Boat Tops) sewed the straps so that the position of the studs had to be where they are. I have asked them via email (pictures included) about it and there was no...

2020 208 Bimini boot "snap fast" not holding

Gee, that's what I wanted to do on a brand new boat that cost a few pennies. Take out the studs, fill the holes, disguise or gel coat, relocate the studs, and THEN detatch the straps and sew in new location. Sure hope others have other solutions. o_O

2020 208 Bimini boot "snap fast" not holding

Agree on many counts. Yes rotate the stud (white plastic piece), and HOPEFULLY the bimini won't need a tie down. Was thinking about choppy conditions and some wind catches it and raises it enough to get in way of sight. But what do I know? New boat and fears untested. And yes, agreed the strap...

2020 208 Bimini boot "snap fast" not holding

Apologies for not including my problem in a 3 year old thread on the same subject, I figured it would be buried in the dust bin. I am experiencing issues with the bimini boot strap not being able to be secured to the deck by use of the factory installed “snap fast” . The process, according to...
