    Survey and sea trial

Absolutely stay with the surveyor at all times. You will learn a lot as he goes through it. Acceptable moisture is subjective - the glass should be solid when he hits it with a hammer and have no dull thuds. He will tell you if the transom is shot or not. The aux tank vs main tank: ask the...

    WTB Grady White 208 Adventure

My cousin was going to do the hardtop but like you mentioned - moving up was in his plans - so recouping the investment on the hardtop wasnt really there for him. Are factory correct hardtops even available?

    WTB Grady White 208 Adventure

You are most welcome. I'm glad everything worked out. I can personally vouch for that boat. It is a GREAT boat - and my cousin is absolutely METICULOUS. (technically he is my second cousin). He gets it from my uncle (his grandfather_ - who is a 4 time grady owner. They only buy the best of...

    Marine Surveyor

I would also not hesitate to reach out to your local marina and / or TowboatUS / Seatow guys. I used to tow for TowboatUS Philadelphia, and I was recently purchasing a boat in Maryland - i reached out through the "network" to the local towboat guys and they recommended a surveyor for me. That...

Price check ... slip and storage fees

I'm searching for slips myself for next year. I'm closest to Manasquan Inlet (although shark river is also close, but I prefer MI because you can get to the bay / ICW) ... For next year the best I was quoted was 3000 for a floating dock wet slip, and 125$ a foot for rack storage. I did not...

    WTB Grady White 208 Adventure

Correction… his hull is a 97, motor is an 04 with 400hrs and a 2019 aluminum trailer. I thought the hull was newer because its in such good condition. I think hes looking to get 15k out of it. Its been stored indoors its whole life so it shows like a much newer boat.

    WTB Grady White 208 Adventure

    crap. My cousin has a 2007 208 with a F200 and it's in mint+ condition. It's REALLY beautiful, but it's in Raleigh / Beaufort NC. I know he's looking to move up to a 282 or 300

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a 257, looking for input and thoughts

yeah im definitely in for the long haul ... 10+ years. I went under contract on the 05 and had it surveyed this weekend... and i wasnt super happy with the survey. In the end i'd be paying premium retail prices for a boat in low retail condition. I made a REALLY REALLY big mistake looking at...

    Gulfstream 232 for overnights

The broker pictures are admittedly awful. I have better pictures of the dock rash if you are still interested. The cushions in the vberth look like theyve never even been sat on.

    Gulfstream 232 for overnights

https://www.boattrader.com/boat/2006-grady-white-232-gulfsteam-7867855/ i have looked at it in person. The gelcoat and rub rails are flawless. Very good condition. The only issues i found were: stbd motor has pretty bad dock or rope rash. Will need the lower cowling replaced or repaired and...

    Gulfstream 232 for overnights

My uncle had a 232 and the one thing he told me about the 232 is: *make sure it isnt underpowered* ... He had twin 150s, but I've heard him and many others say the 232s with a single 225 or a 250 are rather underpowered. The 232 is a big girl and digs a big hole. His 232 was an absolute tank...

    Advance 257 anchor locker

do you reef/wreck fish a lot where you need a different anchor setup? I always used to travel with a reef/wreck anchor (oversized danforth, extra extra chain, tons of rode, anchor ball) and use that instead of my main anchor on the windlass. I kept it in a large milk crate and I could take it...

Hi everyone! I'm a former professional boat captain/former Parker owner/soon-to-be-former hardcore kayak fisherman/likely soon to be Grady owner. I have been in love with the 257 ever since i first saw one up close when I had my parker...About 10 years in the slip directly facing mine was a...
