    Main Breaker Replacement

Bob: thanks for asking...two weird problems: 1. On my Floscan gauge, the analog read-out is working fine and is right on target for a given RPM. However, the digital (i.e., "Totalizer") read-out is reading very erratically. Specifically, it climbs some crazy amount (e.g., say >30 gallons in one...

    Main Breaker Replacement

I've got an intermittent problem that I believe is due to a bad ground, so I started from the batteries and cleaned all of the connections I could up to the chartplotter which is showing the issue. Not surprisingly, there was some corrosion on the battery connections, the main ground stud, etc...

    228 FF transducer options?

I'm thinking of upgrading from my Airmar P66 (i.e., transom mounted) transducer to something higher power (1000W) for my 228g. My motivation is that this transducer has never read well while underway (prop wash/cavitation always causes false readings). Also, my ability to see bottom topography...

How many Grady owners carry a Sea Anchor

I carry a sea anchor. It's great peace of mind. Seas in Northern California can change from nice to down-right nasty very quickly. In the event of an engine issue, being able to deploy the anchor and wait for help is a huge (potentially life-saving) benefit. Also, consider you can use the...

    Remote Control Spotlight

I agree with the comments about mounting the light as far forward as possible. With that in mind, I've been thinking of buying a pair of Hella docking lights like these....no messing with a joy stick...just good illumination of what's directly in front of me. As the name implies, they are really...

GPS shuts down on starting outboard

I have the same boat and a Furuno Navnet chartplotter and I saw the same problem. I installed a Newmar Startguard and viola! problem gone. http://www.newmartelecom.com/DC-Power-C ... Guard.html

    Arm rest replacement

Me too! The arm rests have disintegrated into dry, chunks. Really looks awful. I've only ever cleaned them with fresh water, so I think they were just plain defective from the factory. My boat is in for service right now...I'm going to ask the dealer about what they can do for me.

Furuno vs Raymarine / Siruis Weather

I'm a big Furuno fan. Simply the best your money can buy. Not cheap, but the it's the best.

Boat lift- Recommendation Low profile, MD,DE or NJ

I have a 228 here in California on a 8K Hydrohoist lift and I'm super happy with it. 5 years so far of totally, 100% trouble-free service. Sometimes I feel bad because I don't do any maintenance on this thing whatsoever, but it just keeps on ticking. I bought mine used and the dealer did some...

Still glad you "Got the Grady?"

You betcha! I love my boat. It's been relatively trouble free and extremely safe. Sure I've had some minor problems, but my local Grady dealer has always been there to make things right (even long after it was out of warranty).

So just how "unsinkable" are the Grady White boats

Very true. We've had two capsize here in Northern California in very ugly seas. In both cases, the boats floated very well (both boats were towed-in long after the respective tragedies). I hope to God I never have to prove this point in my 228, but it's comforting to know that it will stay...

    Frustrated with grady deck...

Those are nice, but i bet they're expensive too.

    Toyota Tacoma Experience?

I have one and I love it. Great Toyota engineering. This is my third Toyota truck and I always get my monies worth. Only minor complaints I have is that the fit and finish is not as good as when the trucks were made in Japan....mine was made in Fremont CA and it a had a handful of stupid little...

    Kvh Azimuth 1000

I'm thinking of installing a digital compass and was wondering if anybody has experience with the Kvh Azimuth 1000? One of the things I'm most concerned about is that I have very little helm space on my 228, so this compass would be really close to my 10" Furuno Chart Plotter so I'm worried that...

    Ringfree

What I do is call all of the local Yamaha motorcycle dealerships. Most of them carry ringfree and often I get a great price...particularly if I buy a gross of the stuff.

    made a mistake:water in Fuel

Almost the exact same thing happened to me about two years ago. I put some yamaha ringfree in the tank and let the Racor do its job. Never had a problem. A little water in not a big deal...relax and don't be hard on yourself.

    Grady v. Scout

I did a ton of research and comparing Scout vs Grady and my conclusion was that they're comparable in terms of quality and price. Sure you can get a Scout cheaper than a Grady in the same class, but I found that once you added the accessories to make them equal, the price was roughly the same...

    Beware Boaters World

Amen! Those guys are a rip-off right until the end. Same thing happened to me on a deck brush I bought. One other totally bizarre thing I've noted is that they are not the least bit interested in cutting any deals. I buddy of mine went in an offered to buy all of their remaining 5/16" anchor...

    265 Express bow diving

Never heard that one...sounds like a tale tale to me. If not, it's the best hidden secret ever...they should hire who ever did this one to make the old transom rot issue disappear too.
