I don't use Teflon tape on gasoline fittings. I use a gasoline approved paste. It's not that the tape gets dissolved as best I know but rather that the fittings can loosen up due to vibration.

Where did you get it?

Thanks for the info on the other threads. I did the same and am very happy getting the direct replacements. The others had be banging my head!!!

After a fuel filter problem (see new thread....) I was able to run both motors for 15 minutes each on each tank to prime everything. Pumped the ball every few minutes.

No leaks.

Had a thought about swapping position of the valve and filter. Would make filter change a lot easier and safer.

Every year I second guess myself on this tank selector switch (don't have a label above the valves). Primary tank is pointing the valve aft and the pointer is opposite of the handle, correct?

Yes, pointer is opposite the handle. Center is Off.
On my 265 the valves point left or right. Right is Main(Largest) tank and it is the forward tank. Left is AUX (smaller) tank and it is the rear tank.
I label Main as 1 and Aux as 2 because the digital displays are 1 & 2 not Main and Aux.

IDK how a Marlin is setup.

Yea its the same. Always confused why they would make the primary tank pointing right or pointing aft when the primary tank is forward. Thanks!

On many hulls, the aux tank is forward. There is no absolute rule. There can be an advantage to having the aux tank forward and that is as fuel is used off of the main, the center of flotation of the boat shifts forward which can be preferable to shifting aft as would be the case in a aft mounted aux tank. Of course this assumes that the main is used first and then the aux.

This has since been cleaned up but I marked the pointy indicator end with nail polish. On my old Egg Harbor they ground the pointer off and the handle was the indicator. Of course I made a mistake or two flipping valves with my GW.

Valves mounted inside storage compartment top of photo is forward. Left valve is Port motor right valve is Starboard motor.

This is the case with my 228. Aux tank is forward. I rarely fill my main up unless I'm going to be leaving the boat in the water for any length of time such as my Keys trip for the week. I will run off my main tank until the fuel level lights start blinking, then switch to the aux tank. Keeping aux tank full and mainly run off that one any other time ,helps with overall ride keeping the weight more central in the boat than all the way in the back, if I used the main tank instead. My valve is the original one and is still functioning.

I should clarify the digital display tank numbers. They entirely depend on which sender wires you connect to which plug on the motor cable harness.(Assuming its your motor doing the a/d conversion onto the N2k bus)
Different motors may be different. Your connections may be different.

I use 1 as Forward and 2 as Aft because I lived on a ship for 4 1/2 years and thats the way its done.

Exactly! It depends on what the Captain decides to do.

On my Trophy Pro the aux is stern-most and the main is forward, so when on long trips with full tanks I always burn off the Aux first in order to reduce weight on the stern.
