Seaspension install on a 228

I went back to the vendor (such a nice guy) and he said it takes a while for them to break in. Apparently they get softer with use. He said it's tuned to a 180-200 pound passenger. That sort of checks out, my fishing buddy is 160 and he couldn't get the seat to move, seems like it should have moved some at least. So I'm going to keep going out and hope it gets better. I'll report back after a few trips.

sounds very promising.

It's already better, just needs to be a little softer. Even if what I have now is the best it gets, it's a win. I'm just greedy, want a bigger win so I can keep fishing. I really don't know what I'd do with myself if fishing was off the table.

Sounds good. I didn't think it would help much but was wrong. Keep us updated at regular intervals. I'm guessing as I would with anything mechanical, it will get softer with age.

Just Checking in on how your seat is performing for you. I put one in for my wife and she says its alot better on the initial shock, but have not been out alot yet.

I'm going into my 3rd season with my seaspension seat post, I wouldn't trade for anything. Great upgrade!

Would be a good addition to my 208, so have been watching with interest. Nice project and hope it keeps you on the water.

An update: I like it. It's still not as soft as I want but it is definitely getting better. I was out in my friend's 228 the other day, came back in feeling pretty pounded. My head was unhappy, I guess that is my new normal. Went out a week later in my boat, similar conditions, my head was fine. That's all the seat.

I'm toying with the idea of installing on in his boat.

Just saw this thread for the first time. Very admirable, and inspirational -- makes me rethink whether my biggest problems even matter that much. It's more than an attitude, it's your character -- your will makes you a lucky dude indeed.

Lucky: Sorry for the stroke but good for you for not letting it dictate your life. I know it poses it limitations. I have them too. Painful limitations.

This getting older stuff ain't for sissies.

But you're adapting to the situation you've been given. Hurray for you!

I should have added that I'm following with interest, so please keep us posted. Might help help my 'bad disc/nerve damage issue. Except I'd need the booster seat version to be able to see over the helm!
