    Sailfish 282 2008 - bow thruster installation

G'day Fido and welcome. Where will you keep your Sailfish? Is your slip on a river with high current or something? I'd suggest you just use it for a year and then decide if you really need a bow thruster. (Won't your mates tease you if you get one? :) My experience is that my Sailfish...

Sold my 232 what is the Marlin Clearance on Trailer

Just buy it and try it.... :D (My buddy has one but it is in the water already.) You could get a ballpark estimate by using the bridge clearance spec (9.75 feet for current model) along with a good photograph of one sitting on a trailer like the one below and do a proportional calculation...

    Yamaha owners forum...?

Hi - I just picked up a 2002 Scout 155 Sportfish to keep my E-Tec equipped Sailfish company. I needed something I can putz around in and occasionally hit the road with. I'm used to white 2-strokes and this boat has a gray 2-stroke. Can someone please point me to the owners forum for gray...

    06 F250s on a 96 Marlin?

He's back in business. He found a used 250 2-stroke the same year he is going to slap on. The reason the engine blew was because it ran out of oil and the low-oil alarm didn't go off. There was still an inch of oil in the main tanks but apparently that is not all that oil is usable and with a...

    06 F250s on a 96 Marlin?

Sad day today as a buddy blew his starboard VX 250 2-stroke ending his boating season... :( He is evaluating options at the moment and one possibility is a pair of used F250s but he is concerned about the extra weight of that generation 4-stroke which appears to be on the order of 100 lbs...

    2001 282 Repower

Three great 250's - do you think any of them will push a Marlin as reported here? Or plane it on one engine? viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22953&p=140581&hilit=evinrude#p140581

    Microwave or Fridge Space?

A 1000 Watt inverter would probably handle the microwave which I believe is 700 Watts. The standard Keurig machine requires 1500 Watts but the K130 Desk Pro model uses only 700 Watts so you could run that. There is a Keurig discussion here: http://theboatgalley.com/keurig/ I installed my...

    Microwave or Fridge Space?

I remember having the same thoughts when I bought my Sailfish and posted the question here. At the bottom is a photo of a tackle storage solution: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19834 I ended up concluding that adding storage draws wouldn't provide a whole lot more storage then just using my fridge for...

    2001 282 Repower

I'll second that and based on experience with the G1 E-Tecs on my Sailfish, would suggest the engine size of 200HO with the new 18" RX-4 four blade prop which was designed for the power curve of the G2. The HO models are tuned for about 10% higher horse power than the label. The 225HP G2 would...

    Toilet Flushing

Is this the Groco toilet? If so, it has a lever that switches from flush to dry-bowl. It needs to be in the flush position to draw water. The dry position empties the tank without drawing water. The trick is that when you are finished using the boat at the end of the day, leave the lever in the...

    Grady Marlin repowered, prop question

Ruffhouse discusses his repower at the link below where he reported 50 MPH at WOT with 17" props. He didn't specify RPM but based on typical prop-slip rates it is probably close to 5800. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22909

    Best we can do......Evinrude G2's / Marlin300

The claim on oil consumption is that the "Evinrude E-TEC G2 uses lube oil so efficiently with its targeted oiling system and built-in two-gallon reservoir, a full tank should last all season." Of course that has to depend on how the boat is used, number of hours, etc. That was true for my G1...

2004 Marlin Repower to 300 HP Successful!!!

These are both great engines and I'm not going to claim one is better than the other but this is HUGE for supporters of 2-stroke technology - the E-tec G2 equipped Marlin is achieving a steady 1.6 MPG at 33 MPH..!

    Best we can do......Evinrude G2's / Marlin300

When you have some time to mess around on a calm day, try measuring the speed and fuel use over the whole operating range starting at 500 up to WOT in 500 RPM steps. I'm curious to see if they have improved on the G1 numbers at the low end (i.e., 1500 RPM and below) where most boaters spend most...
