    265 Express Repower

I don't know how the weight and size of the 265 compares to the Islander 270, but several people on this forum repowered their Islanders with twin 150s and were happy with the results.

    2001 268 Islander very unstable.

I have the 2002 Islander 270, and find it to be quite stable under most conditions. I just have the single OX66 250 HP, which should make mine less stable than yours. I always start the day with the tabs all the way up. If I am getting a little list due to wind or weight distribution, I will...

    yamaha 250 ox66 vs evinrude 300 etec

I wouldn't consider 1.8 mpg thirsty for an outboard pushing an Islander 28 mph. I don't believe a single F250 would do much better.

    Yes, a single engine.

    yamaha 250 ox66 vs evinrude 300 etec

All I can tell you is that I have an Islander 270 with a 250 hp OX66 with a Garmin fuel flow gauge. Under average conditions and cruising at about 27 to 28 mph @ 4,400 rpm, I'm getting about 1.8 mpg. I would think that you'd be over 2 mpg with a 248.

    OX66 Winky Blinky Expertise Needed

I'm confused. Is the alarm for low oil level or high temp, or can you not tell?

    Overheating

Overheating at low speeds is usually a poppet valve issue.

    265 first ocean run

I have the Islander 270, which has fairly similar dimensions to the 265. My mode of operation seems quite similar to yours with very good results: 1) When starting off, motor is trimmed all the way down and tabs are all the way up. 2) Push the throttle to get the motor up to about 4,000 rpm...

    The Walk Around Cuddy R.I.P.

We love the WA concept, and cannot understand why the general public is now turning its nose up at that style. However, if there was a big demand for WAs, GW would still keep making them. What are the current express models that they are making?

    Repowered Islander 268

That 19T seems to be way over propped. I'll be interested in how your old prop performs.

Just curious, MPG (or GPM) on a Marlin w/ twin Yamaha 300s?

Do you mean 1.2 mpg? I'm sure those 300s burn more than 1.2 G/hr at idle. Check out this recent fuel economy thread on THT: https://www.thehulltruth.com/boating-forum/1174649-those-fuel-management-what-s-your-fuel-economy-cruising-speed.html Someone mentions getting 1.2 mpg with their Marlin...

Transom Rebuild - The Saga Begins

The $9.2K seems high given that only about a 3-inch repair was needed. It seems that they charged you for a full repair even though a partial was required. However, when you consider the cost of new boats these days, the cost is a pretty small percentage.

    Rpm's

I was looking at the performance information that I got from GW for my boat and motor this morning. For my set up, there is a big drop in fuel economy from 4,500 rpm to 5,000 rpm. Every set up is different, but you may find that 4,500 rpm is more economical for you.

Local Grady White Dealer will not work on my Outboard

It's not like we are talking about a 1964 Johnson here. It's a 19 year old Yamaha, and there are still plenty of parts available. I have done all of my own work on this motor so far including: thermostats, spark plugs, low pressure fuel pumps, VST filter, internal anodes, O2 sensor, and...
