    1997 Tournament 225g fuel tanks

We had the same gas smell on our 1988 Seafarer a couple years back. Found the filler hose badly deteriorated from the filler to the tank. I replaced both the filler hose and the vent hose and everything was fine.

    Bottom paint

Hi Jargon, If that boat spent any time sitting in a wet slip as mine does, it only takes less than a week before stuff starts to grow on an unpainted bottom. Scraping barnacles is the pits.

    Yamaha F225 & F250

I remember reading some posts here before about Yamaha V6 lower engine pan corrosion. The new literature I picked up Saturday at the Ocean City MD. boat show states that the pans are made of a composite material. Is this a change that was made lately or are only certain models made that way?

    Yamaha 200 I-4

Thanks ric2352, Now running an "old Evinrude" 200 thirsty two stroke now and performance is great. I'm hoping that the difference in engine weight won't affect the performance any.

    Yamaha 200 I-4

Now that Yamaha has had their new 200 in-line four out for some time is there anyone who has some real world experience with this new engine? We are thinking of a repower for our 228G.

    Yamaha repower

Thanks Onoahimahi, no, in fact the E-tec 200 was the first engine I considered. My local dealer sells both Evinrude and Yamaha. The salesman pretty much talked me out of the E-tec because he told me that they have a problem with plug fouling when trolling for an extended time.

    Yamaha repower

Our 1988 228G is due for a repower. We now have a 1994 Evinrude 200 on it now (fuel hog), and was wondering if anyone has tried this boat with the new Yamaha four cylinder F200 four stroke. Top speed is not a real issue but I need to know if this engine has enough low end torque to move this boat.

    trailer tongue weight

I haven't actually checked the tongue weight yet, I'm guessing it is somewhere between 180 -200#. The trailer tows ok on the flat but wants to sway when going down hill which gives a real uneasy feeling.

    trailer tongue weight

We just put our 228G Seafarer on a new dual axle roller type trailer. What should the proper tongue weight be to eliminate sway?

    cox boat trailers

I have a chance to buy a galvanized cox roller trailer to replace the float-on bunk trailer we now use on our 228G Seafarer. Does anyone use one of these trailers, are replacement parts available? I heard that Cox does not build boat trailers any longer, just utility trailers.

    Bracket Spray Shield

I can measure it for you, I'll be heading to the beach the weekend of Saturday the 19th for the Ocean City, MD boat show and i'll measure it when I check on my boat.

    Bracket Spray Shield

Got one our our 88 Seafarer, really don't know what purpose it serves, I thought it acted as sort of a trim tab.

    Scupper drain hose

Thanks, the only reason I want them replaced is that I think the reinforcement wire is rusted. Our boat spends all of it's time in a slip and I don't need a problem there or worse yet 20 miles offshore!

    Scupper drain hose

While winterizing our 1988 228g, I discovered that the hoses from the floor drains to the transom scuppers need to be replaced. Does anyone know the I.D of these hoses and are they made of something special since they seem to be wire wrapped. Thanks for the input.

    verado repower

Thanks for the input, maybe that's why the 225 optimax's are such a popular repower on older Gradys.

    verado repower

Dadsgirl, our 1988 Seafarer, is in need of a repower. Currently we have a 1996 Evinrude 200 on a Grady Drive bracket. Mercury makes the Verado in both a four cylinder and six cylinder version. Besides the cylinders what is the difference and would a four stroke perform the same as our old two...

    BATTERIES OVERCHARGING

Yesterday, while fishing offshore on our Seafarer, we ran with the battery selector switch set on #1. After drifting for about three hours with the GPS and VHF on we headed for shore. The engine cranked over fine. We stopped again about a mile from the inlet and fished again. The engine barely...
