Tournament 225: To Restore or Replace

Hi All, I know I'm opening a can of worms here but I need some advice. I'm hitting a point of no return when it comes to my boat and making a decision. I currently own a 1991 Tournament 225 that I've had for 10 years and have done a fair amount to it over this period (I run it in Lake Champlain...

    2006 Yamaha f250 Issues

Hey All, I need some advice/ thoughts on this one. I have a 1991 GW Tournament 225 that I've owned for the last 10 years. 2 years ago, I repowered with a 2006 f250 engine. The compression tested well in all cylinders and the engine ran well. I ran it for the summer and then one day came off...

Engine Search...Your opinion is greatly appreciated!

Hi, not sure if you're still looking for an engine but have you spoken with Boston Harbor Marine in Ipswitch? He has a bunch of used engines in that range you're looking for. Good luck!

    1997 Tournament 225g - Whats the Skinny

Hi Glacierbaze, it ended up costing a $1,000. I was originally quoted $700 to $800 but the fiberglass shop ended up having to do a lot more work than they originally thought. The rear hatch had to be totally re-cored and the forward hatch had to be 1/2 way re-cored.

    1997 Tournament 225g - Whats the Skinny

I have owned a 1991 Tournament 225 for the last 10 years. All in all it's been a great boat. I use it mostly for family excursions running around on Lake Champlain easily hauling up to 8 adults depending on the conditions. The fuel tank layout is the main up front and aux tank towards the rear...

Sloppy Steering and Tilt/ Trim Tab Issue

Hi All, After a rough boating year we finally got our 1991 Tournament 225 relaunched on July 3rd with a new used engine (put a 2008 Yamaha f250 on her) and had a bunch of work done over the winter. The number one issue I'm having is steering. A new O ring was put in at the helm station as I was...

    Windshield Support Brackets

Hi, I need to replace the chrome windshield brackets on my 1991 Tournament 225. Anybody recommend a good supplier? Everything I've seen thus far is aluminum and plastic. I only need one so would prefer chromed steel. Thanks!

Looking for Your Opinion on Next Grady

Thanks for the response. I'll be checking these models out as I can. Don't need it to be a trailerable model and like the idea of a wider beam for comfort and ride. Quick question, when financing a boat, I'd heard that if it has a shower (bathroom) the banks treat it like a 2nd home in terms...

Looking for Your Opinion on Next Grady

Hi All, I hope everyone is having a great summer. It's been a nice boating season thus far on Lake Champlain! I have a 1991 Tournament 225 which the family loves. However, as I think forward in my life and get the kids out of college (think Grady White's are expensive!!), I'd like to move from...

    Tow Vehicle Recommendations

Thanks for weighing in, I appreciate everyone's input. After looking at VW Tourags (liked them and the TDI version had a ton of torque but too small), Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, GMC Tahoe and Toyota Land Cruiser; I purchased a 2008 Toyota Sequoia limited with the 5.7 liter engine. Size wise...

    Tow Vehicle Recommendations

Hi All, I have a 1991 Tournament 225 with a 2001 Yamaha OX66 250hp outboard (engine is on the GW outboard extension). I've estimated the max weight to be about 6,000 pounds (3,000 pounds boat, 1,000 pounds trailer, 600 pounds engine, 1,000 pounds max fuel and 200 pounds gear), does this sound...

Adding a hard top to 226 Seafarer

I'd also suggest Redman Marine Fabricating in Eliot, Maine. A little out of your stated geographical sphere but probably worth a call. I was looking at doing a hard top (didn't as couldn't justify the $$) and they were great to deal with and prices were competitive. Good luck and let us know...

    Grady Helm chair replacement

Dave, thanks and I'll check it out. Sounds like we have the same seats, when you changed yours out did it make a big difference?

    Grady Helm chair replacement

I have a 1991 Tournament 225 and looking to replace the helm and navigator seat as it still has the original molded plastic seats and hardware (that no longer works). I'd like to go with a ladder back style of seating, has anyone gone through this process? I'm concerned about width. Thanks...

    iPad Navigation Apps

I have been looking at navigation solutions for my Tournament 225 that I run on Lake Champlain. Was leaning towards a Simrad or Garmin touchscreen chartplotter but recently borrowed a friends iPad with EarthNC app on it and found it to be a great setup. It's also a whole lot cheaper than...

    Considering Tournament 225

I've got a '91 Tournament 225 that I bought 4 years ago and it has been a fantastic boat for our family. We operate up in Lake Champlain in all sorts of weather and have never once felt the boat was in "over it's head" that includes 5' to 7' waves we can encounter if the wind is blowing right...

    Strange Fluid Leak

I was out on my 1991 Tournament 225 tonight and noticed under the helm station where the deck and leading edge of the platform meet a liquid. Thinking someone had spilled coke I wiped it up, and then noticed it was weeping from a crack in the deck (it is a '91). Would anyone have any idea what...

Kicker extension bracket for 225 tournament

Bummer, I have a 225 Tournament as well and just pulled the kicker bracket off and sold it a few months ago. The bracket that was on there was from Panther Marine and had a 9 or 10 hp Yami on it. The bracket had power to it so could be raised and lowered with a hydraulic lift. Saves your back...
