What's up with my gelcoat damaging so easily? Can I use the boat?

The boat bounced on the trailer on launch due to a mild to moderate wake, but nothing that made me (a boater with 10 years of experience) think I was going to find this when I pulled it. The boat was dry stacked by the original owner.

    Livewell dial vs. switch

On my 2011 275, there is a dial on my dashboard that will operate the livewell aerator for a certain amount of time and a livewell switch which does nothing. I don't think my livewell pump is broken because the aerator dial will cause water to pump, but it's strange that the livewell switch...

What's up with my gelcoat damaging so easily? Can I use the boat?

Yes, it was professionally surveyed. The surveyor found low moisture levels and solid percussion testing results.

What's up with my gelcoat damaging so easily? Can I use the boat?

I bought a used 2011 Grady 275 this week. Not my first boat, but it is my biggest and it is my first Grady. I launched it a couple days ago, for the first time, and pulled it today to adjust the trailer fitment. I thought that was going to be a temporary pull but upon doing so I saw some...

Recommend a marine stereo (any direct replacements for the original Kenwood KMR-700U?)

I bought a Grady White 275 Freedom yesterday that's equipped with the original Kenwood KMR-700U stereo with two KCA-RC107MR remotes (one in the helm, one near the stern seating). It's not working properly and it looks pretty dated so I'd like to replace it. I don't need CD capability - FM, XM...

See you all out on the Bay

... once I figure out how to get this thing to California (any recommendations on transporters?). I purchased a Freedom 275 today in Maryland. It'll be a big upgrade capability wise from our Robalo R227 (which is a great boat but a real wet ride in SF with afternoon wind chop).

What survey findings are a red flag for you?

Well, the Freedom 275 passed the survey today and I wrote the big check. There were no material findings, just some small stuff like a missing fire extinguisher, scuffs in some cushions, and some elevated moisture levels in the removable floor panels. The biggest issue in my mind is some keel...

    Keel Hitting Trailer Axle

I know this thread is ancient but the same thing happened to me today to my brand new to me Grady 275 . @Desperado can you share pics of how you solved this?

What survey findings are a red flag for you?

I'm about to buy a 2011 Freedom 275 if the survey checks out. I've heard a lot about things to watch out for with Gradys, such as wet transoms and stringers and sloppy wiring. (No insult to the brand - I know GW is a top tier builder and that's why I'm interested in buying one.) What survey...

    Puck marks in hull

There are too many boats in the world to own one that looks like that.

    Quality Assurance on new Grady's

I'm sorry you had that experience. It must have been a very disappointing first day after committing to such a big investment. I would return the boat to the dealer for a thorough evaluation at their expense.

    Is a single F350 enough for a Freedom 275?

Thanks @wrxhoon! It is weird Grady doesn't put a single 350 performance test on the site when that (was? is?) the standard configuration.

    Is a single F350 enough for a Freedom 275?

Thinking about buying a used Freedom 275 with a single Yamaha F350. Will it be enough power? Will the boat pop up on plane, cruise at 30+, and top out at 45+? I remember that moving from a 225 to a 250 on my Pursuit 2470 made a difference. I would hate to buy a Grady and feel like it was...

275 Tournament falls off plane below 4,000 RPM?

@lyncha00 how did things work out with your boat? I'm also thinking of buying a 275 with a single F350 but would want a higher top end than 40 MPH.
