Cabin rod rack for 258 Journey

I used your design as a starting point. I made the rod tip support swing so I can move it out of the way when I'm not hauling rods. It can also be taken down easily since I used a thumb screw to attach it. Still tweaking but on our first outing in choppy seas everything held fast. yahoo...

Cabin rod rack for 258 Journey

I'm looking for cabin, rod racks for my 2004 Journey. I've seen threads for owners custom fabricating them but those links are ancient. Any updates on solutions for cabin rod storage? Any venders out there? Thanks for any advice. Travis

    Scupper hoses for Journey

Just in case someone is looking for info on doing this on a Journey. Firstly, it's a total PIA! But it is possible, give yourself 7 hours. -tools: Must have a power ratchet/screwdriver or something to turn the hose clamps with the press of a button. Some of the spots are super tight. -Heat...

Fixing rusty balljoint on end of seacock pushrod

Part number for the new cleves connector is HDWR0531. Sadly Fishtales post came after I ordered the part without the rod and I have the same thread pitch miss match he had. Hopefully once I get the ball off the other end I can thread the new connector there like he did.

    Scupper hoses for Journey

I've read many of the threads on replacing these hoses on other models but not the Journey. Mine are not leaking but they are looking their age. Cracking and rusty. I can see the port side when I take out the battery switch box. How do you get to the starboard ones? I read about guys...

    258 cabin door holding strap

Thanks Oceanbean. I can't believe others have not had to come up with a creative solution for this strap. Grady does not make them anymore. The snap version they offer is not even made to the specifics of the old velcro strap. I truly don't get it. I would love to hear from someone who did...

    258 cabin door holding strap

I need to replace the cabin door strap. The velcro is no longer velcroing. The nearest dealer, 3 hours away says he only has clear plastic with a snap. He was not confident that this worked on my boat. Any ideas? Can I only use the velco model? Any place we can get this part online? Sick...

Looking for trim tab switch upgrade advice

I'm starting to look into upgrading my OEM trim tab switch to one with indicator lights. Has anyone done this? I've got a list of parts numbers from Bennett and they swear it's easy. Just looking for some lessons from those with real word experience. The one option they asked about if I...

Divider for fish box on a 04 Journey?

Has anyone fabricated a divider system that can go in the built in fish box to cut the interior space in half or less? When we are not catching stripers most of our catch is under 24" and I'd love to not have to buy so much ice to properly cover our catch. I'm thinking about constructing...

    Journey sink backflow prevention

I noticed that when we left a towel in our sink it was soaked after a day out on the ocean. Our fresh water system is never filled. I can only assume that water is backing up through the thru hull. Is that true? If so I need to plug that sink drain. Has anyone found the appropriate size...

I'll do another check on the grounds too. I installed bus bar for all grounds so I'm covered on everything terminating at the same point. Thanks

    Help utilizing a water ground

That is a great diagnostic plan. I get a burst of static when either motor is throttled up, and then it goes away. So on the sonar it reads like a strong band of static then clears up completely once I am no longer accelerating. The unit is a Garmin 7608. It was installed end of the year...

    Help utilizing a water ground

My gps/sonar picks up static when I accelerate and Garmin recommends a water ground for the unit. What are the suggested areas to ground to on my 258? I'd rather not have to run a ground all the way to the stern. Thanks

    Seacock repair?

Well mystery solved. My freak out was premture. But who's wouldn't be if you had water gushing into your motorwell. So what happened was I turned on the livewell and the tank filled with water. Then shortly after it stopped working. So I went to the pump after checking power was getting all...

    Seacock repair?

My factory installed livewell pump (Rule 1100 model) gave up today. When I closed the seacock and pulled the motor unit off, it's mounted on top of the factory seacock, water was still coming through. The flow is diminished but only by 50%. The seacock arm seemed to be working just fine, and...
