    Lower unit stuck

The example on the left is one that was worn enough to lock onto the female spline (you can see the teeth were not worn on the end). It seemed to be loose in the housing but a slide hammer never budged it. The example on the right is a new replacement shaft. So by reversing the torque with...

    Lower unit stuck

Just a thought….I work on hydraulic pumps on equipment that have a splined shaft similar to your issue Dennis. When we have troubles getting splined shafts apart we always see that the splines set up an uneven wear pattern that actually locks onto the opposing female spline. What works for us...

Close the bow on a Tournament 192?

Stuffing the bow with a 190 Tourney results is getting soaked right over the windshield even without the bow snap cover, BTDT. (don’t ask why I know:mad:). And not sure about the 192 but the 190 has 4” approx lip under the splash well to mostly clear off the self bailing deck, but anything...

96 - 208 Soft spot over gas tank

I recored my ‘92 Grady tank cover a few years ago with plywood blocks, mat and epoxy. It came out rock solid. Cleaning out the cover I found wood right up to the edge, water intrusion followed the screw holes in the original cover, so I tapered the edges and around the inspection holes and...

86' Tournament 19 Cushion Specs Question

IIRC the 192 model started in 1994 (?). The OP has a 1989, that would be a 190 model, and I think you have a 2000 year model? (edit: meant to say OP has a 1986)

    Simrad Go9 eval

I do use the iPhone for Navionics on airplane mode usually with no issues, but there is something I need to disconnect from my phone on my Simrad cuz if I’m on someone else’s boat it’s fine. The connection is pretty cool with the two (iPhone and GO9), you can see the Simrad screen and change it...

    Simrad Go9 eval

I put a GO9 on and it is a fine unit. Couple of things that I don’t care for……I have friends that have the exact unit and whenever on my boat insist on changing the settings to their liking ( :( ). I need to make a splash shield as saltwater flies up on my engine from the t-ducer. And lastly I...

    Northern NE Fishing

Yesterday, although the first three fish over the side were nice keeper haddock we were inundated with constant hungery dogfish. Couldn’t get away from them but managed to still make a happy cooler with mostly decent cusk, only kept 11 haddock. The ocean was flat flat flat even as the...

    Northern NE Fishing

Not sure how you fish but we find jigging draws in the cod and pollock more, I think they like to chase, plus it wears out your arms. We will stop on a side of a hill and like to drift off the side into deeper water. We think the fish are hiding on the slack side of a drop off or following...

    Northern NE Fishing

We’re are using Tanacom 750’s, 20 oz weights, dual hook dropper rigs, clams, dead sticking and drifting. No jigging, no teasers. We caught and released at least 30-40 dogs but we didn’t care with the elec reels, we caught keepers in between the dogs.

    Northern NE Fishing

Saturday I took my 19’ out to Jeffries out of Hampton, we slammed the haddock at 240’. Picked up a few nice cusk and pollock. Made the mistake of bringing my smaller 8O qt cooler and had to rely on a few insulated zip up bags for the other 20 lbs of fish before calling it at 1:30 cuz no room...

Too Short to See Over Windshield! Step Suggestions?

I have a 19’ Tourney and I have about the same problem, a 4” height extension would be perfect to see just over the windshield. I need to make up a riser extension.

    Sea Star Steering Troubleshooting

The OEM Seastar fluid is clear so finding a leak can be a PITA. You can use 5606 Aviation fluid that has a red dye or buy some blue fluid from a local auto parts store. Both of these fluids are of the same consistency of Seastar fluid but both have dyes.

    Hydraulic steering problem

So, like I said in post #2, it’s a 2-piece Teflon/bronze piston seal. If you cut it off be careful to not scar the sides of the plastic on the piston head. Best to use a small flathead screwdriver turned on an angle to puncture the seal, pull it off and the expander oring (or square ring)...
