    Oh, I agree on the alternator, I was corrected when I called it an alternator by the smartest guy in the room, so was just passing on his knowledge.

    Yamaha’s do not have an alternator, they use staters. The 25” shaft Yamaha 4.2l outboards weigh 551lbs according to Yamaha.

    They are two completely different boats and I find when somebody is trying to decide between the GW walk around and a Parker Pilothouse they have not really thought about their needs and/or seen them in person or been aboard.

    Lift handle to open position and you will see actual keyhole for lock mechanism. This will tell you if locking latch is complete. I have had to fidget with lock previously and believe this is what you are experiencing.

    Use finesse, it should work. You need to line up the lock mech below the housing with the key.

    Yes and no, using troll master and ez-steer. Digging the power tilt, the other motor does not have that. Need to decide what to do with it. Got an offer for $1500 for it. May hang on to it for a spare.

    Easy way to clean this Corrosion?

    Not going to be perfect (or shiny where corrosion/pitting is prevalent) again. Best bet is bronze wool and woody wax. Never gonna be right again, but should be able to improve on it a little with elbow grease.
