Unfortunately last season up here in new england, I blew the powerhead on my '97 yam 200 saltwater series carbureted engine. Grady suggests not putting a four stroke due to the extra weight. My options are to rebuild it, or install a new 200 hpdi. What do you folks think i should do? and what...

your 2003 seafarer was designed for the additional weight of a 4-stroke. my model is a 1997 pre 4-stroke era.

I know my experience is the exception , but my "in perfect condition" yamaha 2 stroke 1997 470 hours just blew the power head. new oil fresh gas new yam fuel filter, every possible maintenance item was checked. just got it back from the dealer to have new throttle and shift cables.

Thanks for the responses. I pulled the old fiberglass and blocks of wood off of the cover. sanded the back side of the cover smooth and epoxied a 3/4 inch piece of bc grade plywood to the cover, and then glassed over it. i also thru bolted the cover to the plywood thru the round access panels...
