While all the tools and parts have been covered, plan to bring a few days of all medications, contact lenses and cleaner (if used), extra pair of glasses, flashlights and extra batteries, (store the bottom battery reversed, neg to neg in the light), protein bars, and dry food packs, lots of...

    Trailering with Eisenglass

It's not how it held up on "a" trip, but the cumulative wear overtime, the ripping at the seams and snaps, stones striking the eisenglass. I had my Marlin trailed from VA to FL, told the hauler to remove the cover and tarp the vessel, he didn't remove it, placed a loose fitting tarp the blow off...

BUYER BEWARE, I WAS RIPPED OFF LAST NIGHT! ***UPDATE***

I had responded to a genset with 21 hours and a life raft that was up to date, the post is a charter captain on Lake Erie, out of NY, seemed like a nice guy, we agreed on a price, I wired the money. He was buying a GW 33, he did not need it on Lake Erie, so I wait for it to be removed and...

    Fish Box Cold Plate Addition

Has anyone ever added a cold plate to the port side fish box on a 2002 Marlin? ISOTHERM makes then with a water cooled unit, and I was just toying with the idea at this moment. Thanks

    Breakaway Anchor

Blindmullet, Your dad had a much larger anchor, and a real winch to retrieve it with, not a mere capstan to pull line in, so don't feel bad. Besides, it can ALWAYS be worst, and only giving Neptune and Poseidon an anchor each in 40 years is getting away easy!

    Breakaway Anchor

Have you tried using an anchor ball? When run forward the ball runs down the line and you behind the anchor and it floats it to the surface. I am on the Gulf and fish it regularly, and its has worked great for me. Once free we use the capstan/windless to bring the line and freed anchor in.

Who do you have your boat insured through?

Marine Underwriters, provides protection and towing up to 200 miles offshore, the best the others offered were 75, and if you ask 125. As we run 150 to 175 miles, we wanted to be sure we were insured. Received from GEICO and USAA, and the were $200 less but had slightly less coverage.
