    Aft cabin bulkhead replacement

Do you want an extra hand? I recall that someone used a handled tool to turn the outside while someone else held the nut on the inside. E-mail me with your number if you want some help.

    Aft cabin bulkhead replacement

Brian, That is exactly what I was talking about. That trim piece is terrible to get in and out. I currently have the port section removed and there wasn't any pressure on it but I was concerned the starboard side might hold the weight of the helm and the cabin roof. While I have the boat apart...

    Aft cabin bulkhead replacement

Yep, the duratrim or wood paneling. It is basically plywood with some sort of thin formica covering it. It is rotten from the bottom up to about two to three inches.

    Aft cabin bulkhead replacement

I need to replace my aft cabin bulkhead due to the dreaded plywood rot...not to bad for a 22 year old boat. I remember one or to members replaced theirs but I can't find any info about them with the search tool. Can anyone on the board tell me if the bulkhead is structural and supports the cabin...

How high above the radome should my anchor/all around light

I am installing a radome on my hard top and I am trying to decide if I need to get a taller anchor/all around light. The light is taller than the radome by a few inches. I can't find any regulations that specify how much higher above the radome it needs to be.

The best place to mount a radar display

Unfortunately, I don't have the units yet. They should be here on 4 May. I bought a Furuno 1650 chartplotter/fish finder and and a Furuno 1622 radar. Additionally, I have a Garmin 2010 (not color), Garmin 478, and a Lowrance lms-520 FF(not color) on the dashboard. I was thinking I could...

The best place to mount a radar display

I recently purchased a used radar and am deciding where the best place to put the display. I have an 88 Overnighter and the dash is full of electronics. I think mounting it to the hard top is the best solution, but where is the best spot. If I mount it directly in front of the helm, it will be...

    Overnighter thru the hulls

I should probably change mine as well. How did you do it. It looks like I can reach them through the access holes. Is that correct? Thanks

    20 Overnighter towing weight.

I have a 1988 overnoghter with an I/O. I tow with a half ton Toyota with a 4.7L V-8. I don't think I would try and tow my boat very far with a Honda Pilot. My truck handles the load well, but if you have to go up any steep hills, you may be in for trouble. Stopping is a little hairy if you...

Cleaning Hard top Aluminum Down Tubes

I was given a free sample of Woody Wax at a fishing fair. My boat is an old boat and not well cared for by the previous owner. The instructions on the package said to use bronze wool and Woody Wax to take off the pits and oxidized material. I followed the directions and it came out looking...

    Question for Grady Inboard owners...

My 88 overnighter has teak 2x4 boards notched to fit the hole in the deck around the engine. It is screwed down and caulked to prevent water from going into the engine box. The teak looks good and I remove it in the winter when I service the engine/bilge.

Roller Boat Trailer for Gradys. Need your opinion and help

Looks similar to mine My rollers are set up like yours. Additionally, I have a gang of six keel rollers up front with a small bunk pad port and starboard. I'll bet your boat slides off there like it was greased. My bunk pads slow things down a little. I frequently put in at a shallow ramp...

    Surveyor in MD?

Mike Previti I used Mike Previti. He allowed me watch and answered as many questions as I could think up. Good guy. I would use him again. PREVITI MARINE SURVEYOR AND CONSULTANT, INC. P.O. BOX 1210 SOLOMONS, MD. 20688 (410) 326-0866 Fax (410) 326-2337 Email...

    Portable GPS vs Combo

I have a Garmin 478 and love it. I only use it as a chart plotter, even though it will do other things. I have used it all summer on my Father-in-law's 29 Chawk along with a dedicated fish finder. I've been out in some wet and nasty conditions and had to practically drive by the plotter. I...

    Burgee Flag Staff

The measurement I crawled under the tarp this afternoon. It measured .5 inches.

    Burgee Flag Staff

Where is it located? I have an 88 205 overnighter. I have a broken flag staff in the fwd-most part of the bow rail. Is that what you are asking about? If so, I can measure mine this weekend.

Removing/tightening the screws for the gunnel hardware

Unfortunately, everything is away from an access. Fortunately, I only tried one screw before moving to the aft port cleat. I can access that from the engine box vent. It seems everything has a flat washer and a nyloc nut on the back. If I start seeing issues, I may just caulk the junction...

Removing/tightening the screws for the gunnel hardware

I bought my 205 overnighter this fall and the surveyor recommended I pull up all the cleats, rodholders, and rail bases and bed them in 3M 101 to prevent water intrusion. It seemed easy enough unitil I tried it and the screws just spin. My guess is there are nuts on the backside of the screws...
