my two cents from experience; pay a reputable boat builder type to go through the entire hull and systems. if he gives a thumbs up then hire a yamaha mechanic to go through the motor. will cost a bit more but you'll get a better idea of if the vessel is worth your money and time.

seem to be having an issue with my trim tabs; curious if anyone has encountered the same. when you press the rocker switch for bow down the hydraulic unit runs but then seems to make a noise as if it is bound up. seems to be the same for both sides. however if you jump out the rocker switch...

have the same issue with mine, started a couple of years ago after i purchased the boat (92 sailfish). I was told by a fiberglass guy that it was an issue an issue for those vintage grady's, and he wanted no part of it. had another guy quote me 1200

there was both wind and current, but i was going with the current and wind was coming at me from the port side. that was one of my initial thoughts as well but since I had a similar occurance last year I thought it was something more.

figured there would be much larger issues as well if there was an accidental lower unit swap. i did check the lower unit zincs when I came in and they were both tight and straight back

counter, i did have a yamaha shop do water pumps this spring before I splashed.....are you thinking the lower units were reversed?

Hi all, had a strange occurance this past weekend. I have a 92 sailfish with twin 200 HPDI's; while out cruising this past weekend boat wanted to take a left turn. Best I can compare it to is a car being out of alignment. Any ideas? More info? Had a similar incident last year towards...

would not do the VST in the water if at all possible. as for parts I use baert marine, but in all honesty have never really shopped them against anybody for price, I also believe there is a very reputable yamaha supplier that has many refferals on here, SIM marine maybe???

does anyone have an engine parts schematic for a yamaha 200HP HPDI? I need a high pressure fuel line that comes out of the fuel pump and goes into the motor. got a quote on the cost but seems a bit much....thanks

no issues with idle, I guess ignorance on my part. I was increasing rpms gradually to warm up motor. It appears this is not a proper procedure on my part.

anybody ever been told the same as Gman about operation in neutral?

was using the override to increase rpms while not in gear. did the same thing for the port motor and was able to increase gradually to about 2300 as I normally do every year.
