On my 228G I had to grind and sand the old coating off. blend out the ares of slight corrosion ,I used Interlux Viny-lux Primewash primer and then a top coat. The only other way to paint bare aluminum would be to acid etch such as alodine then prime and topcoat. bob

Since I trailer my boat, Drain my water tank after each use if I don't plan on going out for a while . I use about a cup of bleach in my tank fill it up and run it through the sink faucet and wash down, Then drain and refill with fresh water.

The Bottom button is for trimming down , The middle is for trimming up untill it hits its limit switch and pushing both top and middle buttons allow you to Put the drive all the way up for trailering or beaching. The unit will not trim up if its in Reverse due to the reverse lock.

I Have a Gil Bracket on My Seafarer 228 , I busted the plastic drain plug and the only place I found to buy one was from a Grady White Dealer for About $35.00 . I have sealed the inspection plate and have not had any water intrusion.

My 2000 228 the scuppers are out of the water at the dock. As someone suggested the grady bracket might be full of water. There is a plastic drain plug on the bottom. Also a 20 year old boat might have the transom waterlogged.

I can only get it to drop about .020 -.030 . I would bet it has never be apart before I will keep trying today maybe larger mallet ....

Has anyone had a hard time removing the lower unit. I removed all the bolts + the hidden ones under the trim tab and cant get it to budge seems its stuck on the driveshaft. Any Idea's
