I've had water in the bilge from forgetting to connect the salt water wash down and live well lines. They push water out when on plane due to the high speed pickups. If you have a crack they'll probably find it when you're moving. Sit still, nothing happens.

I've had the live well overflow when the plug was left in. From there, it can easily make it into the bilge if the seal isn't perfect. I've also had my ice melted by salt water coming in.

For something that's used very rarely, the porta pot with built in holding tank is the way to go. No sense overthinking the situation. If, for some reason, someone really blows up the porta pot, you also have the option of throwing the whole thing out. I'm not joking, it's a nice option...
