I have a 300 Yamaha 2-stroke hpdi on a GW 257 CC. Almost 500 hours and (knock wood) no problems. If I were buying now, I'd go with the 350 4-stroke for added power, less smoke and more quiet.

That's funny...same thing happened to me this weekend w/ a C80. The GPS worked, but the sounder stopped and I got the same message. I checked connections and didn't see anything so brought it to dealer.

I have a 257 w/ Yam 300 2-stroke. You wouldn't want twin 115s on it. If I were buying again, I'd get the 350. If it were rated to 400 hp, I'd get twin 200s.

I believe this is only true for some models. My GW dealer told me, for example, that 257s (my boat) can be re-powered with the 350.

Thanks for the thought....but if there are fly rods on the transom, you can't cast from the stern of the boat. Rods need to be under gunwales, on console or attached to bench-seat rocket launcher (at an angle that doesn't interfere with casting from the stern).

I have a 2004 257 and only 2 of the 6 horizontal rod holders will accommodate a 9-foot fly rod. I am considering mounting vertical fly rod holders on the port side of the console (I don't have a t-top). Has anyone else mounted fly rod holders on their Grady? If so, I'd appreciate hearing how...

After 3 weeks, I absolutely love my new (to me) 257 center console, model year 2004. It has a 2-stroke engine, and the oil tank is filled through an opening in the rear starboard corner of the hull. It fills v-e-r-y slowly, apparently because there is no vent. If others have this problem...

Used Grady 257 I just bought is rigged with Northstar 6100i chartplotter/depthfinder. Anyone have any opinions on this unit, or Northstar electronics generally? It is not a brand I am that familiar with. Thanks.
