    livewell too small

Here's a couple pics that show the bait tank i installed on my 232. it's a 55gallon made by Bluewater bait systems out of Costa Mesa, CA. A bait tank like this is pretty much a must for our albacore fishery here in the NW.

    Latch clips

These are the clips that latch the tackle drawer cover under my helm seat on my '99 Gulfstream. The metal pieces that slip on the back and lock these to the plastic door have rusted to pieces causing these to fall off. Anyone know a source to get more? I've tried all the local hardware stores...

    Tips on Using Salt Away

I flush with fresh water after every use and salt away every few uses. Any that is remaining in the cup gets sprayed on the boat and trailer.

    Grady 232 vs. 228

The 232 would be a bit more than your current tow vehicle could handle but with the wider beam and the added weight it is much better suited for the waters off WCVI than the 228 is. My boat loaded with fuel and gear including the trailer weighs a bit north of 9000 pounds.

    Keeping sea cocks closed??

Whether you choose to keep them open or closed when not in use, it is always a good idea to exercise (open and close) the valve on a regular basis to ensure it doesn't get corroded and stuck. I've heard of a couple of instances where the valve corroded and when the owner tried to close the...

Which Radar Combo for Gulfstream 232?

It's getting to be boat show season. I would recommend visiting the booths at your local boat show and talking to the reps. I have a Lowrance HDS8 on my boat. Lowrance provides very good bang for your buck. Some of the new 4g radar units have similiar specs to the older open array radars...

    Yamaha 250 OX66 - Will not idle

Low pressure fuel pumps will cause this exact symptom. One of them probably has a hole in the diaphragm. Very easy fix.

Offshore fuel tank issues? Low speed stalling

Low pressure fuel pumps... I would put money on this. I had the exact problem with my '99 ox66 200 a couple months ago. Turns out, one of the low pressure pumps had a hole in the diaphragm. 15 minute fix.

move 228 from houston to seattle

I didn't pull any permits and had no problems. The route through CA is a couple hundred miles longer but it is all interstate, fewer mountain passes and much better road surface. Therefore faster and better suited to towing.

move 228 from houston to seattle

Last Month, I pulled a 232 Gulfstream from San Antonio to Tacoma... 5 day, 4600 mile round trip with a buddy trading off driving and sleeping. Lowest bid on U-ship was $3400.00 so I drove down and pulled it back myself for less than half that price in fuel. Drove down through Idaho, Utah, New...
