    Mounting radar on hardtop "hump"

I have mine mounted on a 10" pedestal on top of the hump, and spotlight in front. It's on a 4 degree wedge and tilts slightly forward when at rest. Hard to see the tilt from this angle, but it is very slight.

    Cabin cover

I don't know if this is the answer you're looking for, but I had one made by a canvas shop. It uses the same snaps that my curtains use. I take the curtains off during the offseason and put the cover on. It has a zipper in the center so I have access to the cabin without removing the cover.

    Getting a raise

Correct, on a bracketed mount, the engine(s) should come up some. I believe an inch higher per foot set back from the transom.

    Getting a raise

Technically, you want the anti-ventilation plate of the motor to be in line with the base of the hull. If you raise it too high, the plate won't do it's job and will lead to cavitation.

Marlin new 300 Verado and Prop intel

Congrats on the repower! IMHO getting 5750 @WOT and in the upper 40s is really good an where you want to be. Also I presume you're cruise is getting 1.3nmpg or 1.3mpg and not GPH which I'm guess would be in the 19 range between the two engines. Anyhow pretty efficient for a Marlin.

    Vacuflush Head Help

I see an old post has been awakened looking for a part number. georgemjr you've been extremely helpful and in regards to the original post, I inspected the discharge cap and the gasket was in less than desirable condition with tiny little cracks. I've changed the cap and got a lot more time out...

    Autopilot for Marlin

I mounted my Precision 9 on the starboard side of the aft bunk just above the little shelf towards the bow. I don't get any interference and it's closer to the waterline as recommended. Adding AP as well and need to figure out where the pump will go.

    2017 Marlin?

I think one thing to consider is what you really need. I was nervous moving up to a Marline without a bow thruster (I bought used), but honestly have never needed it, and I find it easier to dock than my previous 268. Someone at my marina a few years back, had a new Marlin with a joystick, and...

    30’ Marlin height.

You are correct. I was taking for granted that the 10' specs the original poster showed a picture of, was from 2003 as he stated: "I currently do not have one, but looking. Had a sailfish before. I picked an 03’ year for the info I posted."

    30’ Marlin height.

The Marlin changed. Don't know about the Sailfish. The thread starter Done-it-again, requiring around a Marlin, reported specs different than mine and his were for a 2003. So the bridge clearance has changed, and I suspect it's the design of the hardtop. Most of the changes where to the cabin...

    30’ Marlin height.

Well obviously the bridge clearance ;) . And correction, it was redesigned in 2004 not 2005. This article talks about the redesign but doesn't get into specifics about the height change. My guess is they changed the hardtop slightly since my bridge clearance w/out the hardtop is 8' 3", the same...

    30’ Marlin height.

That makes sense, it was redesigned in 2005.

    30’ Marlin height.

Curious, what year is your Marlin given that we have different specs? Mine is 2005.
  14. K

    30’ Marlin height.

Yes, "Bridge Clearance" should technically be from the waterline. Obviously load could also reduce this; I presume, or at least hope, GW gives these numbers for an unloaded boat. My Manual and Brochure state 9' 9", so I'm not sure where you're getting 10' from. I'm at 12'+ with radar and...

    30’ Marlin height.

Bridge clearance on a Marlin is 9' 9" but that doesn't account for radar, outriggers, life raft, or anything else that might be mounted on the hardtop.

    Gas before or after storage

I used to fill and put stabilizer, until I got a bigger boat that holds a lot more gas. Also the gases can expand with heat and create unwanted pressure with full tanks. I now add stabil 360 with every fill up throughout the season and try to leave less than half tanks before the boat is pulled.

    305 Express Simrad AP44 Install

I have a Marlin, not an express, but mine is mounted on the starboard side of the aft bunk above the little ledge/shelf. Get's it close to the waterline. I originally tried in the top electronics box, but I have speakers that were causing interference.

My New Soon To Be Fishing Partner

OK, go to reflect a bit. I only met one of my grandfathers, but I was only 1 and don't remember him. He was a Merchant Marine and a Staten Island ferry boat Captain after. My other grandfather died before I was ever born, and taught my father how to fish back in Japan. One way or another, the...
