Throttling up to Turn in Place

    265 Capsized of Jersey Coast

Mustang, thats the same one. Somewhere on my feed I saw the boat was recovered the next day close to Barnegat Light. It showed a picture and it was clearly a 265. We just wondering if anyone had any details as to what happened, ie cockpit drain hoses failed etc. I'm glad everyone is okay.

Does anybody have any information on the Grady 265 that capsized this week off of Belmar NJ? I hope everyone is okay.

    265 first ocean run

I have found that the 265 is happiest with motors trimmed up, bow high. I use the fuel economy gauge to judge the sweet spot where the boat is trimmed up to where it is getting the best speed and fuel economy. It needs to be trimmed up further than you think, even at slower speeds. Once in the...

    Sealing Deck Hatches

Hi Skunk. I would love to view your thread on the manual pump replacement. I replaced the submersible macerator on mine when I got the boat in 2020. Not the most pleasant job, but doable. Do it while its still cold and it won't smell as much.

    265 battery shelf

No, the resealing really wasn't to bad, i just made a mess of the job. From advice I got here, I used GE silicone sealant in almond color, not hard. I also read advice here to tape on both sides of the seam for a nice finish. I failed to follow this advice and made a real mess. Going to have to...

    265 battery shelf

Diad, Wow, those hoses look pretty scary. Seeing them makes me think the hoses on my 2001 265 are probably just as bad. After cutting the shelf, was it easy to access both the transom side of the hose as well as the deck drain side? I pulled up the deck access plates 2 years ago and don't...

    265 survey tomorrow

Several of the 265's that I looked at had moisture along the port side aft above the waterline. Grady drilled through the coring for through hull installation but did not properly seal the coring. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but something to look for. Good luck, the 265 is a great boat.

    WTB Grady White 265

I understand. Before I found my 265, I looked at several others and all had issues of some sort. Common on the 265's are wet transoms and wet hull on the port side aft. The hull is balsa cored on the sides and Grady did not seal it when they installed through hulls in that area. However, issues...

    WTB Grady White 265

It seems really poor form to blow up the entire forum, on every thread, trashing a boat that you looked at as being " wetter than the water it was sittng in". Yes, sometimes surveys do not work out. It is entirely possible that the owner of that boat is a member of this forum. Full disclosure...

    Broker boat knowledge on vessel

True. However, proving that the broker deliberately misrepresented the boat is going to be a difficult task. Undoubtedly, there is a clause in the contract protecting the broker/seller in case of inadvertent misrepresentation. As I stated previously, I feel for the OP, and it stings to eat 1 to...

    Broker boat knowledge on vessel

I definitely feel your pain on the 1000-2000 dollars you are out, but, that is part of buying a boat. it is like buying a house. You bid on a house, then as the process progresses, you may learn things about the house during inspections that may affect your offer. You can counter offer the...

    265 Deck Drain Replacement...

Hi Bartoma, I am doing this exact project right now. I accessed the drains by removing the rear deck plate. It is difficult to remove the hose clamps for the drain, but it is doable. I found the replacement drains that Grady now uses at replacementboatparts.com. The part number is MSC9405834 for...

tips for a following sea on 265 express

Glacier hit it on the head with this. I have generally found that the 265 likes to run bow up in just about all conditions. I very rarely use tabs. Occasionally, I may add just a touch of tab to correct a list. I use the fuel management gauge to assist in finding the right trim in most...

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

Smoky, I love your reference to Dirty Dancing. lol. I can see Max Kellerman now, " it all seems to be changing, now people want four outboards and a bowrider. it all seems to be slipping away."
